I want to get into this: Where is it on the grid between Babylon-5, Farscape, Stargate, and Star Trek (those are four good corners)
Also, Lost In Space (the new Netflix show) is decent... wasn't too invested in the characters, but it's PRETTY to look at.
Based on a great book series so it has a complete story arc. Like most sci fi series the special effects get better with each season. It does start a little slow but that is because you're telling a story over an entire season. Everything doesn't wrap up all nice and tidy like Trek. Now I was a huge fan of B5 because of the 5 year story arc. This similar to that. I like Trek because of the characters, this has some great characters but not on the Kirk or Picard level but it's not really designed to be. IMO the best character is Chrisjen Avasarala played by Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. Story: 9/10 Special effects: 9/10 (TV) 7/10(Movie)
I got sidetracked when I first tried to watch The Expanse, but have recently been thinking of giving it another look.
Im sure I will be. I had my eye on this show for awhile. Its hard for me to get my wife started on a new show though so I have to pick my times to watch or she wont catch interest in them. Either that or just watch them by myself but its more fun with her invested also.
I watched season 1 on SyFy and thought it was decent but didn't like it quite enough to prioritize the subsequent seasons. But I've been pondering giving it another try..
I've seen it advertised on cable TV and it looks great. Haven't done a really good search but a quick search turned up fruitless.
