Just wondering if you were to take BJJ and any type of training who would you go with and why?

Me, I only do Carlson Gracie style of BJJ.

I did train Muay Thai for a year at Ronin MMA here in Ottawa. I chose it over BJJ because I've had back problems and I'm overweight so I didn't want to roll and throw my back out as I had done it in twice the previous year. I loved doing Muay Thai, but me being me, it was getting my butt outta the house that was the hard part.

Ronin MMA is affiliated with Canadian Top Team BJJ, which is the gym in Montreal where GSP, Patrick Cote and David Louiseau train and is of course affiliated with BTT. I believe Fabiano Holanda is the top BJJ trainer at Canadian Top Team.

There are two other solid legit MMA gyms in Ottawa, one is affiliated with Gracie BJJ I do believe.

I've always been interested in and have wanted to take BJJ and kickboxing but its kinda expensive so thats the main reason I've never gone and done it.

you could always try Judo, there are elements of BJJ in Judo.
    it's usually less expensive.
The BJJ community thought is very good and very strong on MMA boards I've always found.

Judo is cheap most are subsidized by government and by Japan (in Canada anyways)
    50 bucks a month

But for me I’m older and Judo is something you have start young. I have taken judo when I was a kid but I would not recommend it for older people honestly.

Getting thrown down constantly at an older age is hard on the body. Judo for me is something you have to do at an early age. Later on in life you are scared to get thrown and that’s when you get hurt.

BJJ team where in vancouver do you take BJJ? Universal? thats the only MMA training centre I know of in Vancouver. I guess there are the smaller ones out in Langley and Surrey but their names skip my mind.

I got to Marcus Soares http://www.marcussoares.com/

Denis Kang is part owner of Universal and Marcus gave Denis Kang his black belt so they teach the Carlson Gracie and Marcus's philosphy

When it comes to BJJ there is no one else. Not in BC, Canada and perhaps North America. Out of BJJ black belts there are only about 15 people ahead of head him.

I also do Tony Pep boxing.Tony went the distance with Flody Maywether Jr and fought Ricky Hatton
