In an attempt to pump a little more life into this forum, lets put ourselves in the seat of the Bobcats general manager for a second. If you were the GM this offseason, what would you have done different as opposed to what Bernie Bickerstaff has been doing?

Who would you have selected in the 2006 NBA Draft?

    1st Round:

    2nd Round:

    What trades would you make?

Who would you sign off of Free Agency?

What would be the final depth chart be by the season opener?

    C-
    PF-
    SF-
    SG-
    PG-

I think bickerstaff has done a perfect job. My depth chart would be

    C Okafor
    PF Ely, i'd resign him
    SF Wallace
    SG Morrsion
    PG Felton

6th man May, then Brezec and Knight

Switch Morrison and Wallace and that's a good starting crew. Morrison wouldn't be able to cover any SG in the NBA [IMG]

good point, i wanted to start brezec or may, but i think that okafor should be playin center, and that may would be a great 6th man.

Not really much to argue with Bickerstaff's approach up to now. He's drafted well (besides the Sean May pick last year) and has slowly picked up pieces that are bargains and perform well. I think they should have made a run at Lorenzon Wright this offseason. He obviously wouldn't have minded going to a young, struggling team (signed with the Hawks), and the price that Atlanta got him at was a bargain. He would have provided some much needed veteran leadership and strengthened the 5 spot.

can you really say sean may's pick was bad he was hurt a lot of the season so you couldnt really see what he could do but he put up decent numbers while he wasnt hurt. 8.2 points 4.7 rebounds. 1.0 assists in 17.3 minutes. asnd this was over his first 23 games, imagine how we would of done if he continued progress, only thing i think he did bad is he shot 41% which is bad for a big guy but he shot 77% from the line. (sorry to get off topic)

    anyways back to the topic

    1st Round: Adam Morrison

2nd Round: not sure a big man (not even sure who they ended up getting)

What trades would you make? proabably non

Who would you sign off of Free Agency? proabably no one, maybe a big body cant have enough of those

What would be the final depth chart be by the season opener?

    C-Primoz
    PF-Okafor
    SF-Morrison
    SG-Wallace
    PG-Felton

    6th Man-Knight and May

but i think in mid season id start May over Brezec (may at pf, okafor at center) based on stats and time they got

i agree with chutney. I did not like the sean may pick, i think he couldve gotten a lot better players like mccants (who they needed then, and would have brought the same draw as may) or danny granger, who can play the 3 or 4.

Yea, my biggest problem with the May pick is the talent they passed over to acquire him. I felt that Bickerstaff got too obsessed with concept of drafting proven college players and neglected the fact that players like Danny Granger, Joey Graham, Gerald Green, etc. had much more upside and looked to translate better into the NBA. I'm still skeptical of how high May's ceiling is.

I personally wanted Gerald Green, but the May pick isn't really as bad as people think. Our best big man was pretty much Okafor, who's only been in the league 2 years so far..that's how weak our big man core was. So Sean May wasn't neccessarily a bad pick, as we needed better big man, and May is a big man with some nice potential.

    2nd Round: Ryan Hollins

What trades would you make? Brevin Knight and Primoz Brezec for a draft pick and filler(s)

Who would you sign off of Free Agency? Pryzbilla and Jacque Vaughn

What would be the final depth chart be by the season opener?

    C- Pryzbilla(Ely)(Hollins)

Who would you have selected in the 2006 NBA Draft?

    1st Round:
Adam Morrison(You don't pass on a guy like this, Bernie would have been crazy to pass him up.)

2nd Round: Ryan Hollins(With the proper development, he'll be a monster big man in the future.) or Pops-Mensah Bonsu(Would prove to be great insurance for whenever Okafor gets injured or May just isn't doing it. Tremendous shot blocker and explosive leaper.)

What trades would you make? Honestly, I wouldn't really make any deals, unless there was something good out there on the trade block.

Who would you sign off of Free Agency?
    Joel Pryzbilla..and Walter Hermann(sp?)

What would be the final depth chart be by the season opener?

    C- Pryzbilla/Brezec/Hollins
    PF- Okafor/Evans/Ely/May
    SF- Morrison/Hermann/Robinson
    SG- Wallace/Anderson/Carroll
    PG- Felton/Knight/Burleson

    6th Man- Brevin Knight

Actually, I would put Brevin Knight as the starting PG and have Felton off the bench along with his fellow N.Carolina teammate Sean May

    C-Brezec
    PF-Okafor
    SF-Morrison
    SG-G.Wallace(the man is a beast)
    PG-Knight

    6th man-Felton then May

Felton was a spark coming off the bench last season. He plays significent minutes so it's not that big of a deal if he comes off the bench. Sean May is a good contributing big man off the bench as well and can play the 4&5 spot. Brevin Knight is very unselfish and can help Charlotte push an early lead against teams. Gerald Wallace can play like 3 positions because he's a monster and is a good defender. Morrison will definitely do good with a veteran PG. Okafor is a good offensive weapon and defender while Primoz has a good jumper and a good rebounder.

    1st Round: Adam Morrison

    2nd Round: Ivan Chiriaev

No joke, I'm actually being serious. He has a good height at 7'1 and a pretty good ballhander. He's pretty crappy, I saw him at the senoir high school all-star game and he was pretty crappy. But I think he has potential. I don't see why so many teams passed up on his potential just because at 7'1 he does have some guard like skills. I'd just chuck him in the dleague and see how it plays out. Or maybe Pops-Mensah Bonsu, just off sheer potential like Ivan.

    What trades would you make?

I'd try to trade May for a different prospect, maybe Warrick or another five. I just can't help but shake the feeling he's destined for scrubdom.

Who would you sign off of Free Agency?

Resign Ely, and sign the Kandi man to a 1 or 2 year deal at a few million a year. And if possible sign Arvydas Macijauskas.

What would be the final depth chart be by the season opener?

    C- Brezec/Ely/Kandi
    PF- Okafor/Warrick/Ely
    SF- Morrison/Herrman/Robinson
    SG- G-Force/Macijauskas/Carrol
    PG- Knight/Felton/Burelson

    6th Man- Felton
