We trade for Rahim, who would be our starting SG. I sure as heck do not want Harris starting. He runs like he has a huge rock tied to his legs. I would love to get Wesley Person or Jon Barry. Both are very good shooters and Person is an amazing three point shooter. What do you guys think?
You worry too much...Rahim will play PF, not SG... he play the same position of Martin. And I agree we can sign a good shooter.
If we traded for Rahim then I wish we could bring back Damon Jones. DJ would be a perfect fit to add to the backcourt because he could help at both backcourt spots. And he can make the big perimeter shot in key situations, and if kidd knee ever acted up during the season, DJ proved that he could run a team thats in the playoff hunt as a starting point guard. DJ would be by far my choice, giving us a core backcourt rotation of Kidd, Harris & DJ, all can play on or off the ball. Bobby Sura might be another guy who would fit in well with the Nets. But these guys are probably to far fetched for us to have a legit shot at getting. A guy like Wesley Person, would stretch the defense & open up things for RJ to penetrate etc, so he would be a solid reasonable choice. Ron Mercer is always out there and he shouldnt cost the Nets much at all, seeing as his reputation isnt on the best of terms with league GM's right now. He is reported to have bad worth ethic and he really bumped heads with Greg Pop in San Antonio. But maybe his attuide has changed sitting out almost a year after being released by the Spurs. And he might relish the 2nd chance back in the NBA and be willing to put more work in. The guy has talent enuff to average double-digits every single night, its all about commitment with him. There are a few others out there..... Anyway all signs right now, lead to RJ playing alot of 2-guard next year, even if he starts on the frontline at small foward . The Nets have been showing alot of interest in Small Forwards so far this offseason rather then your average jump shooting 2-guards. At 1st it was Eric Williams and now Iam hearing the name Rodney White from Denver being thrown around alot. I could live with either choice to be honest, because White isnt the greatest basketball player yet but he has some raw skills & has excellent size and athletism for a small forward and Eric Williams can get us some interior-mid-range points in the half-court because he has an excellent post up game for a small forward and uses his body well. Both are a method of getting bigger on the frontline by getting a little more psyhical & a little more size at the small forward spot. And I can live with that because Reef isnt really going to be pysical at the pF spot and niether is JC at center. And with both Aaron Williams(if the trade happens) & K-Mart gone that leave no psyhicalness left on our frontline, so I will take it at any position we can get it at even if its a small forward. We would probably start Lucious Harris at the 2 guard and RJ at the SF. and then shift RJ to the 2-guard and bring Williams or White off the bench giving us a bigger lineup. But RJ would have to improve his jump shot even more over the summer for it to work in reality.
