Boston College wide receiver Ifeanyi Momah will miss the rest of the season after tearing a ligament in his left knee in the season opener against Northwestern.

The fifth-year senior also missed the entire 2009 season with a knee injury. The school said it would apply to the NCAA for a waiver so he could play next year.

The injury to Momah, a senior co-captain, is a definite blow to the Eagles. The 6-foot-6, 229-pound wideout led BC with eight catches for 157 yards in the 24-17 loss to the Wildcats, and provided a safety valve for sophomore quarterback Chase Rettig.

Momah was third on the team last season with 19 catches for 296 yards. In 2010, he spent some time at defensive end, too.
