Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft
Alright, don't be too hard on me *cough Gametime cough*
NO MERCY!!! :bigfinger: I think this would be the best pick for them, but even though its early all indications point toward Russell. Gaines Adams isn't a better pick than Joe Thomas or either QB for Detroit, even though I definitely think Detroit will grab a DE on the first day. It's going to take a lot of balls for them to pass up on AD and both QBs. Good pick, but I see them going Quinn if hes there. They re-signed Simms for a reason, not to just bench him. He's their starter moving forward, as intruiging as either QB would be here. They're solid up the middle with Dockett/Clancy/Watson at defensive tackle. I think Jamaal Anderson would be the pick here, if not at #4 or #5. Again, I must bring up Jamaal Anderson's name. Over all the defensive backs on the board, and Quinn? No chance he falls this far. Everyone that sees this mock will say the same thing. Pitcock is the 5th best DT in this draft at best and wouldn't fit Pittsburgh's defense. I was extremely unimpressed with him in the championship and I'm doubting his status as a first rounder. Bad pick as far as both need and player go. Denver doesn't need a corner even if they did unfortunately lose Williams, and there's no way they reach for a player like Hughes over a ton of top DEs and Glenn Dorsey. I'm guessing he would play OLB in the 3-4? That would mean Greg Ellis/Al Singleton/Bobby Carpenter would all have to find new roles. Can't see Blalock passing this pick. Please explain this one to me..Darwin Walker probably has one year left here at the most, but Patterson obviously has one spot locked down and Bunkley is going to need another year before we can actually label him a bust. 28. Baltimore Ravens - Buster Davis | Inside Linebacker | Florida St.29. Chicago Bears - Arron Sears | Offensive Tackle | Tennessee30. Indianapolis Colts - Glenn Dorsey | Defensive Tackle | L.S.U. Are you predicting him to play inside? Because Shanle and Fujita are servicable OLBs for them.Definitely not bad for a first ever attempt. Not as easy as it looks, huh? :whistling:
Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft
*3. Cleveland Browns - Joe Thomas | Offensive Tackle | Wisconsin
I can totally see Oakland taking Calvin Johnson. And I can buy the Lions taking Gaines Adams. But Cleveland passing on both JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn? Two real franchise QB's sitting right there for the taking, a miracle that their choice of QB fell to them and they pass??
7. Minnesota Vikings - Adrian Peterson | Runningback | Oklahoma
Chester Taylor was a stud this year.... WTH would they draft Peterson to take his place?
9. Miami Dolphins - LaRon Landry | Safety | L.S.U.13. St. Louis Rams - Lawrence Timmons | Outside Linebacker | Florida St.
I know both are good picks, but I doubt either team would pass on Brady Quinn if he fell to them. A nice Saftey or nice OLB help... but a franchise QB for the future is the better choice for both teams.
25. New York Jets - Justin Blalock | Offensive Guard | Texas
I have to STRONGLY disagree with this pick. With Amobi Okoye on the board, there is no other choice (unless a miracle Marshawn Lynch fell all the way to our laps).
31. New Orleans Saints - Paul Posluzny | Outside Linebacker | Penn St.
Great pick for New Orleans..... but why the hell is a top 10 pick like Posluzny falling almost out of the first round?
Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft I'm scared to post mine lolIknobaer, I like yours picks but I don't think the Vikes will get a RB in the first round.
Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft thanks for the comments guys, keep em coming, as critical as can be so i can do updates and whatnot.maybe once it gets close to draft time we can have a 1st round mock draft competition

Pauly P. a top 10 pick, o, I need a good laugh and that hit the spot.
Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (iknobaer @ Jan 10 2007, 05:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>1. Oakland Raiders - Calvin Johnson | Wide Receiver | Georgia TechYou can say whatever you want, I still believe Moss and Porter are gone after the season, and this guy may be one of the most ready NFL players to come out in the 2000 era.I don't see them passing on Russell right now. They canned Art Shell which is who Moss and Porter clashed with so I don't think they are going to be dealt as they have almost no trade value right now.2. Detroit Lions - Gaine Adams | Defensive End | ClemsonThink about it. Their offense wasn't completely terrible, they still have weapons in Roy and Mike Williams, Kevin Jones, and Kitna isn't terrible, and if they really want to they can pick Troy Smith/Brohm in the 2nd Round. They need a pass rusher and a good defensive lineman. Kevin Jones suffered a Serious Injury and we're not sure if he will ever play again, granted, I still think the Lions will go with Joe Thomas in this spot and pick up a Runningback in the mid rounds just in case.*3. Cleveland Browns - Joe Thomas | Offensive Tackle | WisconsinTheir offensive line is in shambles. If Frye can get some time, and Droughns could get some blocking, this offense could be very good. I think Frye could be good, and with weapons like Winslow and Edwards, I feel this could be a good pick for themI like Joe Thomas, but I don't think he'll last this far. With him gone, I say they do draft Brady Quinn as Charlie Weis will give Romeo Crennell one hell of a recommendation I'm sure.7. Minnesota Vikings - Adrian Peterson | Runningback | OklahomaThis is where I start to get ripped, ha. The Vikings defense is good enough that they don't need to pick a 1st Round defenseman. They need some sort of offense. I was contemplating whether putting Peterson here or Quinn, but I think Peterson could be the pick.Forget about Chester Taylor and Tavaris Jackson? They're not going for either position, I could see either DE, WR, or Secondary. That's about it.8. Houston Texans - Patrick Willis | Inside Linebacker | Ole MissI still believe if the Texans can solidify the OL, Davis and Carr can still be successful. They still need help on the defensive side of the ball, and Willis is a very capable LB.Congrats, you picked the only position the Texans defense doesn't need. Forget about Defensive Rookie of the Year DeMeco Ryans?9. Miami Dolphins - LaRon Landry | Safety | L.S.U.Passes on Quinn, I doubt it.13. St. Louis Rams - Lawrence Timmons | Outside Linebacker | Florida St.Passes on Quinn, I doubt it.15. Pittsburgh Steelers - Quinn Pitcock | Defensive Tackle | Ohio St.He's looked rather unimpressive as of late, Don't be suprised if he falls out of the First Round entirely.17. Jacksonville Jaguars - Ted Ginn Jr. | Wide Receiver | Ohio St.As if they haven't taken enough 1st Round WR's in recent years with Reggie Williams and Matt Jones. Yeah, it's still a need though, I just see them being a bit gunshy about addressing it this way.19. Tennessee Titans - Sidney Rice | Wide Receiver | South CarolinaDraft Sites love to overrate this guy, He could be great someday, but he declared at least a year to early in a stacked WR draft. Don't be surprised if people like Dwyane Boye or Robert Meachem pass him and Samardzija.20. New York Giants - Marcus McCauley | Cornerback | Fresno St. It makes too much sense for the Giants, you're not accounting for their stupidity. 21. Denver Broncos - Daymeion Hughes | Cornerback | California :whistling: 23. Dallas Cowboys - Quentin Moses | Defensive End | Georgia3-4 Defense + Quentin Moses = Bad Combination IMO. He's more of a 4-3 player.25. New York Jets - Justin Blalock | Offensive Guard | TexasI wouldn't mind this at all.27. Philadelphia Eagles - Amobi Okoye | Defensive Tackle | Louisville Like they REALLY need another Lineman. That's all Andy Reid ever drafts so much that they don't have a need there anymore. Hell, they just drafted Broderick Bunkley last year and all he did was sit on the bench.31. New Orleans Saints - Paul Posluzny | Outside Linebacker | Penn St. To Jon Vilma, He's not a Top 10 pick. 10-20, maybe. 20-32, Alot more likely.</div>Overall not bad, just some rookie mistakes.

Williamson is further proof to my point that he's overrated because he has terrible hands and lost his starting job over the second half of the season. And the only comparison between half of those players you listed is that Williamson and Rice went to the same school and Jarrett and Williams went to the same school. Calvin Johnson is a much better prospect then Edwards all around, and don't get me started on the other 2 comparisons.

Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft Thanks for all your comments. I will do an update later today I think.I can't believe I forgot all about Jamaal Anderson. He will definately be added.
Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft Williamson blows. Tice made such a stupid move there. I wanted Derrick Johnson that year and Matt Jones at the 18th and dumbass meathead picks up stone hands Troy Williamson and injury prone Erasmus James. Vikings won't pick Adrian Peterson. Running back is the least of our worries. We have 1200 yard back chester taylor (who also missed a couple of games) Mewelde Moore, and promising backs Artose Pinner and Ciatrick Fason. Again, Childress said that he'll be going into next season with Tarvaris and Brooks competing for the starting job and said that he'll consider bringing in a late round rookie to develop or a veteran free agent to BACK UP if Brad decides to leave. The Vikings will likely draft one of a few things.Wide Receiver- Troy Williamson is our only player under contract at WR next year i believe. He's been an overall bust in his first two years dropping easy passes.Defensive end- Erasmus James coming off of an injury, Kenechi Udeze not having a single sack in 16 games.. Offensive line- Childress wants to make this o-line a success. We have the left side. Ryan Cook could be the heir apparent at right tackle or guard but a young first round OT or OG could be good for the right side of the line.S. Darren sharper is below average in the cover 2, Dwight Smith is average, Greg blue is suspect in coverage.
Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft Raiders arent drafting Calvin Johnson because he just said in an interview that he dont want to go to the team and i heard Al Davis was talking on the radio that he really likes Jamarcus Russell's gameIf Mike Martz coach for the Raiders, Jerry Porter is staying because of him and Moss might too.
Re: Iknobaer's Mock Draft That situation for the vikings there is absolutely perfect for a trade down. Johnson, Adams, and Anderson all off the board leaving us with players that we could pick up 4 or 5 spots later.. trade down with a team like Carolina that's looking to get Quinn and get an extra 2nd rounder out of it. Then pick up Jarrett or the best DE available and get a few more picks for depth. I doubt that Childress really thinks that CB is a huge hole right now. The FA class is deep (I would take a roderick hood over Leon Hall any day) and we already have Winfield, Griffin, Smoot, and Devonte Edwards coming off of an injury. FA or later round pick at CB...

The Vikings are in rebuild mode and I don't see why you would complain about probably one of your 2 best defensive players, Darren Sharper (last post), being below average at a cover 2 defense. If you have a franchise player like him and the Williams' in the middle covering both DT spots, why would Childress be an idiot and play cover 2? Tice had a better system going with the Vikings defense, although the run game seems to be better, the pass coverage has dropped off a great amount. Sharper is a man you can build your entire defense around, not someone you want to be below average in your new scheme. He is a leader on the team, and definitley one of your best. Why would you want to take that away from him?As for your offensive things, WR is definitley a big need. I don't see where everyone gives up on Williamson so quick. He just completes his 2nd year of NFL play and everyone gives up on him already because he has dropped a few easy, and some other tough and mediocre balls. The man is definitley a number 1 WR in the NFL as long as he keeps his head in the game. In order to keep your head in the game, you need some sort of successful team with a good morale boost in the locker room. Why do you think Randy Moss has looked like such a slouch lately? He's with the crappiest team in the NFL and has nothing to be proud of. Give Williamson a damn chance and give him something to look up to, and maybe, just maybe, you will see some production out of him.
