    Trolling Z (trade rumors)

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Cavs in no rush to trade Ilgauskas despite defensive habits

Here's the latest on Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas:

? Cavaliers general manager Jim Paxson told me, ``We're in no rush to trade him. We want to see how he fits in with the new guys. He's trying harder on defense. He's still 7-foot-3 and can score. He's a valuable player.''

? NBA sources tell me that Dallas has been trying desperately trying to add Ilgauskas, with the Mavericks offering Antawn Jamison. He's a year into a six-year, $79 million deal. The Cavs don't think he's worth that kind of long-term commitment.

? Ideally, the Cavs would like to add a starting point guard who can shoot, an upgrade over Kevin Ollie. One insider said they'd like ``a Chauncey Billups-type,'' but the Pistons love Billups and not many guards available fit that model.

? Jamison is a career 20-point scorer, but he's a 6-9 forward. That really doesn't give the Cavs what they need.

? Ilgauskas is being paid $13.5 million this season and $14.6 million next year. So there is no rush to take on another mega-contract just to make a deal.

? Ilgauskas has had five foot operations. He also developed some very bad defensive habits over the last year with all the losing, coaching changes and selfish play on the team. Coach Paul Silas expects his big men to defend, and Ilgauskas has struggled.

? Silas has a solid defensive center in Tony Battie, and DeSagana Diop is expected to be activated this week. Silas loves Diop's willingness to block shots, crash the boards for rebounds and exert a physical presence when teams try to drive inside. He knows Diop is foul-prone and a liability on offense, but figures the 15 to 20 minutes of defensive energy that he provides makes him valuable.

? Can the Cavs go with Battie and Diop as their centers? Can Diop stay healthy? He's had two knee operations. He'll be 22 at the end of the month. The good news is that in the four weeks he missed while recovering from knee surgery, his weight only went from 280 to 282. The 7-footer has learned to keep in shape, and he respects Silas.

    Full Story

Other players I have heard in Ilgauskas talks are Michael Finley and Wally Szczerbiak.

Szczerbiak would be a great addition, it would add the Cavs outside shooting.

I could see another big man come to Cavs if we are going to trade Illgauskas, I would love to get Erick Dampier and Troy Murphy Or Michael Pietrus, that would be a good deal for both team, I just hope that coach Silas gets some advices from this board;)

We don't need size DajuanWagner#2, with Boozer, Battie, and Diop, things up front are fine. I am sure maybe we can get a big guy role player in return, but a big man star is not what we need in return for Z. We need a deep threat, bottom line. Teams play a lot of zone against the Cavs just daring them to make outside shots.

That's why guys like Hudson, Szczerbiak, Finley, Billups, and Jamison (not a bad outside shot) have been talked about the most.

Something will get done people, no question, it is just a matter of time.

Wally&another player for Illguakus & another player would be a great deal for both teams. With a the injuries the T-wolves have suffered this season, Kandiman & Madsen. Their inside is the weakest part of their team. And you guys need someone that can stretch the defense & make the 3 off of Lebron's penetration. But Wally has something on his contract that prevents him from being traded this season without the t-wolves having to give him more money(or something like that).

Dallas is really trying hard to get Z, looks like they have gave the Cavaliers a choice between Finley or Jamison. Because of both their contracts being huge and long term, the Cavs will be patient and wait for that "must" deal to be put on the table.

Finley would be a nice addition however, he is everything that Ricky Davis wishes he was.

Antawn Jamison would be a crazy addition to the cavs, with LeBron James, DMiles(if he gets more minutes), Antawn Jamison, Dajuan Wagner the cavaliers would be a team with a fair shot at the playoffs....sorry i forgot Boozer the double double man for the cavs.

Finley I believe would be the better addition.

He defends, he is a shooter, a veteran winner, and is clutch. Already having Williams, Miles, and Newble already being able to play small forward minutes, I don't think we need one in return for Big Z.

I wouldn't let go of Z that easily without gettin a big man in return. Trading Z would leave you with Battie and Boozer for big men, and not to forget Diop.

I would keep Z, deal him only if you get a big man in return.

Ilgauskas is not a good fit with this offense/defense that is best for James and Silas. Diop is the perfect fit. Battie can start until Diop is ready to take over full time. Having those 2 with Boozer is better than what a lot of teams have up front in this league. The Cavs do not need a star big man in return like I stated above, but a decent bench man would be fine.

I agree Ilgauskas is very slow for the tempo the cavs want to run i would take jamison instide of of Finely because of the post and rebounding that jamison has but finely is a better leader and clutch player. Diop is a perfect fit for us but his weight is kinda scary in my thought.

You are thinking about the Diop of last year, because he lost mad weight this year which led to a break out improvement in his game. He is a top 5 NBA shot blocker (per 48 min) has developed a steady 15 foot set shot, and was getting huge clutch baskets and rebounds.

I miss watching him play basketball and I am glad he is making his return.

I think Finley would be the perfect addition!
He can shot, and his high to be a guard so he can rebound to, he's also quite good at the defensive end!
So I hope we get him if we got to trade Big Z
