I just dont like his style. I feel he favors some players and gives them to many minutes on the floor. which in the long run are just going to tire out our players for the long season ahead of us. I dont know maybe its just me. comments?
He will be out after this season even if we make the playoffs, I think. Eddie Grunfeld did not want him, Abe Pollin did. Eddie has horrid substitution patterns and plays way too much of a guard oriented style of ball, I would love to see him shown the door in Washington.
I don't like this whole "let's show them the door if they don't succeed within two years" idea. There are two big issues here: first, continuity, and second, giving someone a chance. On the first issue, Washington teams have not had continuity of coaches and systems in the last 5 years or so. That means the Redskins and the Wizards. And neither has responed well at all to the rapid changes. Sometimes players need to learn one system, and stick with it for a couple years. I heard Hughes on the radio yesterday talking about how he thinks the team is finally really getting a hang of the system Eddie has put in place. And you want to change that? Just as the team is blossoming? Eddie has had a year and a quarter so far to prove himself - the first year, he had his pre-season starting lineup for 2 games. 2. That's 80 games where one of the starters was missing. And he did pretty well taking that into account. And through the quarter of the season where he has at least some of his personnel (remember he missed Kwame and is still missing Etan, two of the biggest players inside), he has the team tied for the third best record in the East. What has he done to get you pissed at him? He's producing. If he doesn't produce, then maybe I'm with you, but he certainly isn't dragging the team down. And then, the idea that you give someone a chance. Looking at the NFL again, we can see from 5 years of hindsight what would have been if we gave some people a chance. We know Joe Gibbs started 0-5 his first year here, way back when, and had he been fired Washington would never have had the greatest coach in the history of the city. We know too that Marty Schottenheimer started out 0-5, then won the next 5, going on to an 8-8 record. The team was playing well at the end of the season, but he was fired. He went out to San Diego, and, given 3 years to build, has turned in a hard nosed, tough, running, defensive team. Had the Redskins stuck with him, instead of jumped the gun firing him, I have no doubt he would have done the same in Washington. This is all to say, in my mind, you can't fire a coach that you at one point wanted, without giving him a chance. If the team collapses after the break and doesn't make the playoffs, you can fire Eddie. But for continuity reasons, and to give him a chance, if he succeeds this season, what reason do you have to fire him?
Simple, i think we could do better. I see the pottential, but i dont see it being used at its fullest. a Big part is the way that eddie subsitutes his players. Hes really putting pressure on Arenas and Jamison making them work so many minutes. It's working now because we are still early in the season. But what about later on, he hasnt allowed his other players to grow to the system. And if one of those players gets hurt we will be handicapped. He needs to give more time to those other players, if not once the teams figure how to stop Arenas and Jamison we are going to be sitting ducks.

Now look at what there saying neither Jordan, nor Scott has found success in there new orginizations really the fall of NJ that season Scott was fired (up to the point of his firing anyway) was just that the team did not want to play for him.

Your right though, it is funny how everyone thought he was the reason for NJ offensive success.
