Alex Smith is the next Ben Roethlisberger!

No he is not! There will only be one Big Ben and there may be another one in a couple of years but not this year. The only way ben was Big Ben because of the Steelers organization. They had exceptional recievers like Hines Ward and Plaxico Burress, etc. Besides that, they have had the #1 ranked defense in the league. So it wasn't the offense who did all of the work. But for the 49ers, the only recievers that come to mind is Brandon Lloyd and their defense is horrible. So whenever someone says anything about Alex Smith is the next Ben Roethlisberger, I'd have to throw a fit. Sorry fellas about that but I'm done.

Alex Smith won't even start this year unless Rattay gets hurt. Tim Rattay has looked TONS better so far.

Smith is going to end up being a "project."

Actually he gets his first start this weekend, but I agree he is no Big Ben. Not even close!

Alex Smith has great potential but I think he'll be a bust base on he has nothing to work with outside of Brandon Lylod and the first roung bust so far in RaShaun Woods of Oklahoma State.

Anyways I think he'll be a guy to find a home else where sooner or later. Like Brian Griese has in Tampa.

Alex Smith has only one good reciever and a horrible o line and a defense that is the worst in the NFL. Big Ben had a great core of RBs, WRs and O-line and had a great D

Looks like Smith is taking over! i think he will be their franchise QB for years but in fairness, ben has settled into the NFL like no rookie before.

I don't feel silly at all. Smith is going to be worse than Rattay. The 49'ers are terrible on both sides of the ball. Regardless of which guy they start, it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.

I stand by what I said.

I think Alex Smith will be a slight upgrade over Tim Rattay. Tim Rattay has overthrown tons of balls. Alex Smith wont win many more games, because of the D. But he might get the offense past the 50 more than once.
