It's so fucking painful. I mean, I fucking root for this team all fucking year long and they show me that they have what it takes to beat the Suns and then they win Game 1 on the road. When you do that, you're supposed to close the fucking deal and win the series. We paid for Andre Miller. We got Andre Miller. He wins Game 1 and loses in 6. That is what he does. We got Camby but he was too old and banged up to finish the series. All we've done is gotten older. Frye, Outlaw, and Blake all gone. Miller and Camby will be gone in 2 years or less and those three will be hiting their stride. The only real reason to get excited about next season is Greg Oden but gambling my heart on him is probably not a smart proposition. Fuck. Cmon Greg. Please get healthy and get back to your 11/8/2/60%/24mpg ways and then let's take it up a notch. I'll admit. If November Oden was in tonight's game, we would've won. We couldn't grab a fucking rebound against a center-less Suns team with an All Star PF that only grabbed 3 boards!!! Cmon Greg. Get healthy. Show me you still got game. Ever since 2000, I've had to watch us get swept by the Lakers twice and then choke a way a game 7 in Dallas, then no playoffs, no playoffs, etc, and then get blown out by the Rockets in Game 1 at home, and then get blown out by the Suns in Game 3 at home. And then Nash turns the ball over every possession, Amare only grabs three rebounds, Rudy and Marty hit almost every shot they take, AND WE STILL LOSE! Greg, save us!!!!
lost against LA lost against LA lost against LA lost against Dallas lost against Houston lost against Phoenix. Yeah it's been awhile.
Me too. If this team does not get out of the 1st round next year it will be a huge disappointment. This team winning game 1 was huge, but I had a feeling we would split the games in PDX. Blazers were 1-2 at home in the playoffs. That's not going to get it done.
At least last season, we had the consolation that Roy and LMA played like they belonged on the big stage. It was just the "supporting cast" that fell short. This year, we don't even have that.
I said this same thing yesterday. During the entire peak years of my fandom, we haven't won. sighhhhh
Yea, there's not a lot of positives to take away compared to last season. Terrible effort on D and complete lack of any execution of offense in the biggest game of many of these players' careers. Oden and expiring contracts are the only light at the end of this tunnel.
This is the worst day of the year. 2010 can only get better. World Cup anyone? USA! USA! meh...not working
Apparently, I have control over whether or not the Blazers win. I was just told in another thread that what I do affects whether or not the Blazers win games. So as I plan next season, I ask you, what record would you like the Blazers to have next year? And how far in the playoffs?
Re: Apparently, I have control over whether or not the Blazers win. Remember: don't show up to road games. The Blazers are (iirc) 4-8 when you see them in person on the road (since 2007).
Until or unless Nate is replaced with a guy who understands either how to devise an offense that features more motion and ball-reversal when teams load up the strong side or who can get his players to execute what he wants (assuming that these guys are simply ignoring what Nate wants as Antonio Harvey suggests) then I don't hold a lot of hope for deep playoff runs because we're going to continue to see our guys struggle to generate consistent offense unless they are matched up against a team that doesn't play defense or is vastly inferior talent-wise. I'd love to see this team start to advance beyond the first round, but I won't be holding my breath.
You would not have had a good time as a fan of this team in the 80's. We made the playoffs every single year and never made it out of the 1st round.
