No, really - What do we know?... Or, at least, what do we think we know? We're about a month away from another season, things are looking a little less blurry that they were last season. I figured that a topic like this would be a good one to brainstorm over our Leafs with. Here's some of what we know: - Nazem Kadri is *almost* pencilled in to a starting position on Toronto's roster. - The Leafs have 8 defencemen signed for the up-coming season. (Dion Phaneuf, Mike Komisarek, Carl Gunnarsson, Francois Beauchemin, Luke Schenn, Brett Lebda, & Tomas Kaberle) - The Right Wing Position is full from top to bottom. (1. Kessel, 2. Versteeg, 3. Armstrong, 4. Orr) - Tyler Bozak will be occupying one of the Center positions, and Mikhail Grabovski is still with the team. - Nikolai Kulemin has a spot on the Left Wing, likely on the top line with the roster Toronto current has. We'll have to see what happens with Caputi (I hope he gets a chance at a top 6 role again) - Fredrik Sjostrom is still on the team, and he's a Right Winger. Can he play Left Wing? - Jean-Sebastien Giguere is likely to start this year, though we'll see what happens with Jonas Gustavsson after training camp. If you asked me though, so far it's Giggy #1., Monster #2., though Gustavsson played very down the stretch of last season.
I like this post and Grabo needs to leave, I'm tired of his no handles, no scoring touch ways. Also, Fredrik I want him out. He doesn't bring much and we can have something better. I cannot wait to see Kadri though, should be amazing.
I was hoping Grabo and Kaberle would be packaged up for something big, but Burke had other ideas. As for Sjostrom, I wouldn't be surprised if he stays with the club. He came with Phaneuf and Aulie in the deal for Stajan, Hagman, White and Mayers. Burke will give him another shot, and I thought he did pretty good on the penalty-kill. We'll see what happens.
