If Monta Ellis is indeed shipped to Atlanta, or Charlotte, or wherever the hot rumor is (because apparently he went from a humble, quiet, sleepy eyed kid to a thug when I wasn't looking? What?), the good folks at nbadraft.net seem to think I might be able to change my name to Koponenman.

Sounds pretty enticing, and we could sure use a "pure point guard" that could actually run an up-tempo offense and give Baron's knees a break. Granted I always look at the nbadraft.net site skeptically, but something about this guy feels good to me. A good team, a team like the Spurs, for example, can always be rebuilding for the future while they win, because they scout and draft great young foreigners that other teams are too scared or apathetic to touch. Mullin nailed it with Andris. Could Petteri be the next big Mullin steal?

Could trading Monta be the next big Mullin brain-fart?

Trading Monta Ellis for anything other than an all-star would be a massive brian-fart by Chris Mullin. However I think we have seen how he can get attached to certain players and such. I mean he was really all over Mike Dunleavy's game; just look at the contract he got and everything else he did for Mike. I don't know, but perhaps, if all of these rumors are true, he has a certain close attraction to Yi.

But I have been mentioning Koponen's name around here quite a bit. I think the team's name that he played for in Finland is a bit more shocking than him being a NBA prospect from that country. Well maybe it's about a tie... And his home team's name is the Honka Playboys.

On youtube I only found like four or five videos of him. They are each pretty short. They are all kind of related. It's kind of difficult to point out which one he is on his Fin team. There is no audio on the videos. Here is one from the Nike Hoops Summit. http://youtube.com/watch?v=VHBUoVgHKs0

I don't know and I won't really say that these clips show a whole bunch besides that the league he plays in doesn't seem that great. However he didn't have the best stats but he's still only 19. He looks good with the ball and seems to have good vision. It would really be so much easier if he fell to the Warriors in the second round. I am not sure if the Warriors risk the first round pick on this guy. But I am not against having a 6-4 to 6-6 PG with good court vision, athleticism, and a shot. He is just almost completely unproven even on the international/European level I believe. He had a good showing against US High School players at the Nike Hoop Summit.
