He’s more than comfortable riding the coattails of Dame. The mediocrity is here to stay as long as Neil’s at the helm.
So, Olshey is going to make a move that is completely inconsequential and try to sell it as the move that puts us over the top. I want both the first and third options on that list. I actually think a good GM, that really wanted to go all in and blow this thing up around Dame to give him the best possible chance to win it all could get a rotation of... Dame, Gary, RoCo, Gordon, KAT, a decent vet backup PG that can guard both back court spots, Enes, Melo and who knows from the buyout market and G League.
Oh so Aaron Gordon and Karl Anthony Towns? Sure let’s do that. Maybe we can get them to throw in Anthony Edwards!
But... "getting CJ and Nurk back are the bigger than any trade deadline acquisition" and we "wanted to preserve flexibility" No?
The question is, do you think we could get Gordon for DJ, Hoodie and either Ant or whatever we could get from a team that was interested in Ant and first rounder? I really think we could. Then do you think we could get KAT in a three team deal in which we gave up CJ, Nurk, Nas and a first? I really think we could. I also think we could cut salary in the process and fill the roster spots left with buyout players or G League all stars. Edit: You know what, who the fuck cares if all of that imaginary shit would work. The truth is we have a ton of tradeable pieces that aren't Dame on this team but we have a GM with no imagination.
If I got a no from both teams then I would consolidate what I was trying to get both with and just try and pry KAT away from the Wolves.
Towns is only 25, is an automatic 25 or so and 10-15 Rebs a night guy and can’t see why MN would ever give him up unless they get a superstar back. It wouldn’t make sense.
Maybe you're right. They do have time to wait and see if the talent around him will develop. Unlike us they aren't at that point where they need to make something happen around their superstar immediately.
We know he can't win a title with one 6'2" all-star. That puts him in the same category as every other coach with only 1, below average size all-star.
