Allright, I think I should really explain the origin of my name.

Junoon is the name of a Pakistani rock band. However, I don't listen to Pakistani rock aside from Atif Aslam...infact, I'm not Pakistani. Actually, I hadn't ever even heard of the band Junoon till I googled it AFTER I had changed my username.

In reality, I got my name off a song by Himesh Reshammiya (if any of the brown people know, he's the sufi, nasaly dude taking over Indian cinema music) called "Junoon", which means "passion", off the movie Rocky, which probably sucks (the movie). The song, however, is quite good.

    I hope that settles it.

And Ooo-mair, I'm not punjabi man. Nor am I Pakistani. My ethnicity is a mystery [IMG]

Sorry to turn this thread into some south indian bazaar or somethin, but Jal ain't got nothin on Atif. His voice alone sh*ts on Jal's new singer. They essentially used the same songs on both of thier albums...I have both of thier albums, and Atif's stands out way more IMO. His voice is untouchable, one of the best I have heard in the WORLD. Listen to Atif's version of "Aadat" and compare the power of his voice to that of Jal's version of "Aadat" and you know there's no comparison.

    Edit: Nah, not Guju.

Atif Aslam can't sing...dunno what you guys are smoking. Junoon (the band) was the ish back in the day. I'm Paki by the way...and ok, Sri Lankan's aren't classified as desi's...but Paki's are. I'm also Punjabi...and I have a cousin named Umair. Anyway...the rest of the people on this forum must be freakin out. It's the attack of the desi's...or...them brown people [IMG] .

[IMG] I think you're the first person that I've known that's said that. Are you one of those Paki guys that's into the Pakistani pop scene and gets mad cause Pakistani artists go sing for bollywood? Honestly, forget his rock songs or his first album, if you listen to just "Woh Lamhe" off Zeher and "Tere Bin" (*everyone else in the thread just closes it upon seeing some next foreign words*) off that new movie (Bas Ek Pal), that should say it all. Dude's in high demand. A voice like that comes once in a while IMO. Even though I hate that they're only picking him to sing extremely sad songs in Bwood.

Anyways, apologies to everyone else who is confused out of thier minds while reading this thread. Exact way I felt when I was reading the Voodoo Child music dicussion thread. And I thought I knew rock music...[IMG]

And wait, you're half Paki/half punjabi??

I'm full Paki. Well I was born and raised in the US, but family is all pakistani. And no I'm also not one of those people who can't speak urdu/punjabi/hindi and still claim to be paki/indian. I speak the language fluently. There are differenet provinces in Pakistan, and Punjab is one of them. People from that region are Punjabi..hence the name Punjab.

And no I'm not one of those people who get mad cuz people are going to bollywood. I just dont find Atif Aslam's voice all that great. Yes I've listened to his post Jal songs. Everyone has their own opinion. Simple.

Yes I am into the Paki music scene and I feel that the newer "Artists" aren't as talented as the older singers. Junaid Jamshed is still by far the best voice in the history of the "Pop" scene.

Cool that you clarified that. Also, I actually didn't know there was a Punjab in Pakistan. I didn't know the exact geographical location of Punjab in India either.

Part of Punjab was given to Pakistan when the English drew up the borders. It's at the Northwest corner of India.

Dude, 4 hour love stories that are usually ripped off Hollywood plots and chalk full of bad acting and boring song and dance routines. Ugh.

Nah, bro, you're just cliche-ing them based off movies from the 90's. Admittedly, there are a few that still "borrow" the plots of Hollywood movies (I usually hate these type of movies), but there are also movies that ANYONE can get emotionally attached to or think is a cool movie. I guarantee you, if any dude on this board watched the movie "Gangster" (2006) or even "Iqbal"
(2006), they would think Bollywood is quite genuine, even though songs are present in the movie (not as much as typical movies). As for the songs themselves, I guess it's a part of Indian culture (well, ever since Bollywood was created). Them Indians sure do love thier film music [IMG]
    I personally love it.

Not all the music is good but the majority of them tend to be outstanding. Also, singers like Udit Narayan, K.K and Atif Aslam are all amazing and should be world reknowned voices. As for bad acting, that's true in some cases, but not all.

    And Bollywood chicks are bomb.

Any one gonna argue that she's not?

Yea, I'm exaggerating. But I have a hard time watching them. The songs just ruin any sort of drama that's being built up and only recently have the girls actually started dressing and dancing hot.

Well, everything progressively gets better in it's own ways. Indian cinema's improved leaps and bounds from the days that they used to show a girl being shy, covering her face and running away when a guy comes close to her (which really annoys me). If you watch any scenes from the movie "Murder" with Mallika Sherawat (youtube it), with the dude basically fingering her on screen, you can see how much it has changed. I don't want too many movies to be bold to that degree though, because honestly, the Indian public isn't ready for that on a large scale. However, people are much more open minded and embracing towards bolder ideas rather then traditional love stories, which is a nice change cause those get annoying fast.
