Troy Murphy was a target of the Cavs; T.J. Ford and Brandon Rush were almost traded to the Bobcats in exchange for D.J. Augustin, Gerald Henderson and Nazr Mohammed.

Yet, the Pacers made no deals before yesterday's deadline. However, as Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star notes, the Pacers are in good position to make some deals this summer.

"Expect the Pacers to be active in trade talks again this summer," he writes. "They have five players -- Murphy, Ford, Solomon Jones, Mike Dunleavy and Jeff Foster -- entering the final year of their contract."

Larry Bird also told Wells this: "We think there's going to be a lot of teams looking for guys with one-year deals and not have three- or four-year deals, and hopefully we can pick up a player or two that we like."

As ESPN'S Chad Ford writes today, the Pacers may be struggling now and didn't pull off a deal at the deadline, but they are set up well to make moves in the future, and could be a big player in the 2011 free-agency market.
