<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ORLANDO, Jan. 19 -- Injuries to Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce and Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd may have opened up a spot on the Eastern Conference's all-star roster; and the way Wizards forward Caron Butler has been playing, that spot could be his. Pierce, who ranks fifth among Eastern Conference forwards in the latest returns, is expected to be out until sometime after the all-star break with a stress reaction in his left foot. Redd, who ranks seventh among guards, has missed four games with an injury to his left patellar tendon and is not expected to be back until early February at the earliest. Butler is not ranked among the top 10 forwards in fan voting but could be added to the roster by conference coaches. Butler entered Friday night's game at Orlando posting career numbers in several categories including scoring (20.9 points per game), rebounding (8.1 rpg), assists (4.0 apg) and field goal percentage (48.9 percent).</div> Link Looking real nice for Caron Butler right now. Also, chances of Eddie Jordan coaching the East in the all-star game is also a good possibility, no? With the Cavs on the verge of losing to the Nuggets, the Wizards will be tied for first in the Eastern Conference.
Lamar has no shot in the West and he has been injured. Garnett, Duncan, and Brand are the Western Conference PF's. I'd love to see Butler get his first appearance in an all star game this season. He's averaging almost a double double.

I don't think Brand will make it this year. Dirk, Marion, Boozer and Howard will most likely be the West Forward reserves. Butler definitely needs to be in this year's all star game for sure. He's having a great season.
<div class="quote_poster">kobe23 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">if caron gets in then lamar should also have a shot</div> Caron Butler 20.9 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 4.0 APG, 2.0 SPG, 49% FG%, +23.38 efficiency rating, and he's played and started in 39 games. Lamar Odom 17.5 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 4.9 APG, .7 SPG, 47% FG%, +20.90 efficiency rating, and he's been injured a good portion of the year, missing 20 out of 41 games. There is no way your statement is true. Caron's having the better, even if it's only marginally, season. He's also been healthy all year. There is less competition in the east for the spot, as well. If Caron is not selected to the all star game, it will be a downright injustice.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">if caron gets in then lamar should also have a shot</div> Different conferences, so I don't see the relation here. Even without injuries, 21 PPG, 8 RPG, 4 APG, 2 SPG, good FG% on a good team are All-Star numbers.
