Wallabies coach Robbie Deans has been struck by two further injury blows as he looks to inspire his side to a comeback victory against Ireland in Brisbane on Saturday.

Already shorn of his first-choice front-row, Benn Robinson, Ben Alexander and Stephen Moore, as well as lock James Horwill and No.8 Wycliff Palu, Deans can now add scrum-half Will Genia and winger Digby Ioane to his list of walking wounded.

Genia, who only returned to action after a knee problem in Saturday's 21-20 loss to England, broke a bone in his hand in the early stages of the game and will miss a month to six weeks of action. The news is far worse for his Reds team-mate Ioane, who will undergo surgery on a dislocated shoulder before missing the Tri-Nations to recover.
