<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The way Rob Evans sees it, the Warriors got more than the low-post scorer and rebounder they were looking for in Ike Diogu. The Arizona State coach believes Golden State also found itself a shooter.

    With range, that is.

"Every year, we challenge him to improve a different part of his game," said Evans, Diogu's college coach. "Coming out of (Spring 2004), every day last summer, that's what he worked on, shooting from 3-point range.

"The biggest thing you have to understand now is he can take his game outside."

Diogu led the Pac-10 in field-goal percentage last season at 57.5 percent and shot 40 percent from 3-point range. He made 18-of-45 attempts, good for second-best among his Sun Devils' teammates.

The power forward said he showed off his shooting skills during individual workouts for teams and was pleasantly shocked when the Warriors took him with the ninth pick in the NBA Draft.

His newest Warriors teammates, however, shared only in the shock.

There was little pleasant about Tuesday night for Mississippi prep guard Monta Ellis and Pittsburgh forward Chris Taft. Both believed they would not last until their respective 40th and 42nd selections in the second round.

"It caught me off guard," Ellis' agent, Andy Miller, said Wednesday. "Obviously, we were expecting to go higher." </div>

Cool, probably same ol same ol when it comes to interviews.

What I'm confused about is, was Diogu really that shocked when supposedly the Warriors told Diogu they were going to draft him if Frye wasn't still on the board? So when Frye wasn't on the board, Diogu probably knew it was him, unless he felt the Warriors weren't trustworthy in keeping their word when it came to Green and Granger being still left on the board at #9.

Even more curious is why the Warriors would make a promise days before the draft when they're in the best spot to land anybody that falls from the consensus top 8. The Raptors, again, impacted the way the draft unfolded. First Araujo and then Villanueva. I'm kind peeved we didn't capitalize on Green falling. He was a top 5 pick on many draft sites.
