Brian Butch, Wisconsin's forward/center, will miss 4-6 weeks with a badly dislocated and fractured right elbow. Reports say he may be able to return to the court if his recovery goes as expected and the Badgers are able to advance deep into the NCAA Tournament. As you guys know, Butch is arguably my least favorite Badger. I've elaborated on that opinion. However, I've never met a person in my journalistic career who would kick an injured STUDENT ATHLETE while he's down. Sadly, I found out what type of writer would do such a thing recently. The following is an excerpt from an article written by Gregg Doyell, a national sports writer for CBS Sportsline.com. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Badgers weren't good enough to win the national title -- period -- and that was before cryin' Brian Butch left Sunday's game with an elbow injury that might end his third consecutive disappointment of a season. The Badgers can make do without Butch's soft play and yucky body.</div> You can read the rest of the article here, if you wish. Personally, I think it's the worst article ever written for publication. http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/10021803/2 I've emailed CBS Sportsline and Doyell personally, not because he spoke poorly of Wisconsin. I wrote him to tell him what a piece of **** I think he is for slamming an injured player for absolutely no reason at all. I included the names of three of my journalism professors, and their signatures, on a document which I've mailed to CBS's headqurters, the point being that a person who writes the type of garbage that Doyell did should not be employed by anyone, let alone a publication that is read by literally millions of fans all around the world. Am I overreacting to this article? Probably. I'm not a person who protests things, but I cannot stand by and watch a 'journalist' so blatantly drag our profession through the mud, especially when the insults are being hurled at a Badger. If you would like to comment on this trash, please send an email to Doyell here http://www.sportsline.com/columns/writers/doyel Greg Doyell is, in my humble opinion, the worst journalist on the planet. To pull something like this shows absolutely no class on his part, or on the part of any organization that would print such a terrible writer. I hope he is fired, and that he never works in sports journalism again.
