http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9538380/how-fix-nhl/ Some of these points have already been thrown around by the NHL. I agree with things like eliminating the loser point, hybrid icing, wearing home whites and having a crossover SC final. I don't like his idea of ending the over-the glass penalty or redefining late hits, i think that's watering down the sport. You'd have players flipping pucks out of play all the time just to stop momentum.
control the size of goalie equipment. It's absolutely brutal how big it is. Not just the leg pads but also the shoulder pads that makes a goalie's upper body looks humongous. I'd love to see this happening, but i'm not holding my breath on ever getting enough attention from Buttman. I know in the past they tried it, but as usual the NHL screwed that up and slowed the game down tremendously with in-game pad measurements. Just do it before every period as they get ready to get on the ice so the game never has to be delayed.
Thanks, thats a good read. My main problem is this point system. Teams not pushing hard in the third period. Any of these changes have some good points, I guess you first and foremost must be willing to accept change. Bigger nets huh? Marc-Andre Fluery just shit hisself.
All have you have to do is make the net 3 inches wider on each side and you will see a slight increase in offense which is what the league needs.
