I find that I stumble upon little conversation points that don't deserve their own thread relatively often. The pace of this board is decidedly slower than RealGm and the like so I thought a thread like this might be appropriate. Please feel free to comment or add your own conversation points. I'll start. -- Is this statement true or false: If Miami had signed Kurt Thomas they would be the favorites to win a championship. --If you look at champions of years past, most of them could have lost their second best player and still remained in contention. Are the Bulls the only team that claim this distinction this year? A Boozer-less Bulls team still has an outside chance at a championship. If you take Wade off of Miami; Parker off of the Spurs; Garnett off of the Celtics; Gasol off of the Lakers; Westbrook off of the Thunder . . . not so much.
On one, it's hard to say. KT would have been a great fit on Miami, but with no one else in their lineup I think he may have been overwhelmed. He was a good fit here because we didn't have to use him much, and he knows how to keep himself in shape. I'm not sure how good a 38 year old Kurt Thomas looks like starting every game. But maybe. On two, I think Boozer, Deng and Noah are the 2a, 2b, and 2c players on our team, which is why taking one off doesn't have such a huge impact. With the other great teams there's not as much competition for the second spot.
