http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/10/behind_the_blazers_locker_room_19.html Recap -Brandon is going to have a player's only meeting before the season starts about expectation and roles -Starting five will be Blake, Roy, Batum, Aldridge, Oden -Joel is fine with coming off bench -Joel defended Andre Miller in regards to his condition test failure, and hasn't heard any negativity come from Andre's mouth. He also expects Andre to have no issues with being a backup point guard. And then there is this quote at the end of the story, OUCH Sergio and Channing get pwned!
There's no doubt that if this team can accept their roles, they can do something special this season and the next few seasons. I love that Greg will be in the starting lineup now. Good stuff.
I wish Roy would learn to be more of a team player- heretical as this sounds. If he could learn to play with the better point guard, then the team would be better off.
doom and gloom bitching huh? remember joels a free agent come june. then we will see some doom and gloom. oh and did you guys need joel or quick to tell you that Miller, Howard, and Webster are an upgrade over sergio and frye lol? Really? if you watched any blazer game last year.... there were 2 players "who didnt fit with the rest" maybe sergio and frye? do you remember the espn game vs boston? barry on frye. "that was the worst 25 seconds ive ever seen by any player." he was talking about frye.
lol I didnt even call you out. Or think of you in this instance. I just find it laughable the huge threads over something that Quick speculated on a week and a half ago. Yet people took that as set in stone. Thats why I take the wait and see approach.. as opposed to bitch and moan approach.
Wouldn't it be fair to say that all players need to get used to and adjust to playing with each other? If Roy doesn't adjust to his teammates doesn't he become a one man team?
No doubt. Can I have my summer back. I think I posted a hundred times that Oden would be starting, yet Nate was bashed continually by certain posters.
He led the team in assists last year and is leading the team in assists this preseason. The "better PG" has been a SG who can't shoot this preseason and who average less assists than Roy in more minutes. I wish people would learn to look at the statistics rather than pull posts out of their asses.
Bad idea, according to Doc Rivers: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...lug=aw-rondoceltics102209&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Interesting article. Thanks for posting it. I suspect Roy's meeting will be more of a "blow smoke up your ass" variety than a "saying things that shouldn't be said" type like Rondo's. Hard to see how the former can really do much damage. More of a waste of time than anything. Truth is that if there is going to be a major problem, it's going to flare up because Miller or Rudy isn't happy with his minutes/roles. Hard to see how a team meeting during the preseason changes that.
And those who are so sure he's going to bolt from the team at the first opportunity. I should be from the show me state, because I'll believe it when I see it.
Right and Doc Rivers is really a stellar coach. Just look at how many wins he racked up with NBA finals MVP Paul Pierce prior to getting Garnett and Alan...oh right he was awful! Doc Rivers is pretty low on my opinion rating pole. Tom Thibbedeau (sp?) on the other hand I might listen to. He is the REAL coach on that team.
This will be a "leadership" meeting as opposed to a bitching session. No worries. I believe he did something similar prior to last season, as well.
Good point. It is easy to side with Roy over Miller. (who some Blazer fans have already decided they will never accept) What happens if Oden turns out to actually be that special player we thought we were drafting, and Roy refuses to adjust to him?
