Apparently, Ralph Nader has started a petition to try to get Mariano to pitch one more season... Part of the article states: ""Baseball can't afford to lose you. Not now. Not at a time when athletes who are liars and cheats dominate the headlines in our national pastime," Nader wrote in an open letter. "Major League Baseball needs your class, honor, dignity, sportsmanship, and respect for the game -- now more than ever." He went on to talk about the inning Rivera pitched at this year's All-Star Game and thought the closer can still pitch at a high level. "You represent hope; hope that our baseball ideals aren't lost forever in this era of performance-enhancing drugs and highly tainted baseball records. One more year, Mo! He's done, people need to let him go, he's not returning, and what baseball needs is this great, new crop of young players to step up and be the men that Mo and Jeter have been, not the idiots that Arod and Ortiz are.
