ESPN is reporting that Mark Cuban has fired Avery Johnson.

Get this man on the phone Mr. Paxson.

    Don't hire him, he's worthless.

Better get someone else, like an assistant from some other team.

And how about that, an hour after I made the thread fire Avery, Cuban must have read the thread and actually fired him. lol [IMG]

I find it hilarious how quickly this took place.

btw, I love looking back at CoY winners a year or so later. Avery just won it two years ago and is already fired. Both D'Antoni and Sam Mitchell have also won it recently and are on the hot seat. Watch out Byron Scott...

Avery was just the victim of Cuban's stupid trade.

Explain last year then, when they didn't have Kidd and yet they lost the first round to an inexperienced Warriors team.

Avery was given enough time to prove himself and he proved nothing. (other than being able to win during the season, but thats not enough in this day and age)

It certainly looks like a bad trade if you don't follow the Mavs.

But doesn't that tell you something if everyone in the league thinks the Mavs trade is bad...except for the Mavs?

I thought it was a great trade and something that would push them over the top and make them the favorites. And they are the favorites. Too bad their coach sucks and got beat by Byron Scott.

Sucks for Dirk the most, who gave it 110% every game.

    In the regular season: 16-2, 60-22, 67-15, and 51-31. 194-70 (.735)...or an average of 60 win seasons.

He is 23-24 in the playoffs. He's won 4 playoff series and has taken his team to the finals.

Look at the Mavs roster, that is a depleted team. They have Dirk, a flawed superstar. Terry and Howard...two pretty good players...but not really good. Kidd, an aging player who cramps their style. Outside of that, the team is pretty much composed of crap.

Avery did the best he could with what he had.

How exactly did he get beat by Byron Scott? I've yet to hear any concrete reasons for Avery deserving the majority of the blame.
