It amazes me how effective the marketing is of Apple. I will admit that the phones aren't anything spectacular; but they manage to break estimates each and every time with every new launch. The market thought they would sell 8 million; which they trumped by 1 million. That is a huge benchmark! I have to admire apple and their marketing team. They managed to get people to buy into a lifestyle. Not mentioning everyone here, but... I love how the naysayers keep saying "Apple is done"; yet they knock it out of the park.
Not to take anything away from that number (because it is VERY impressive), but those are the sales figures for the 5s and 5c. The fact that they got people to accept that the 5c was a new phone (as opposed to last year's 5, just in plastic/colors) is a testament to how good their marketing is. I love my Nexus 4, but I was looking at my wife's iPhone 4 last night and it is still a very nice looking (and well made) phone. As long as Google keeps releasing Nexus phones, I doubt I'll ever switch (rather spend my money on other toys, like cameras), but I can't deny the new iPhones aren't tempting. Oh, iOS7 still makes my eyes hurt though. That, I'm not a huge fan of.
I think the new iOS7 is just breaking ground. I have reason to believe that there will be huge improvements by next year. They had to put the new programming into effect and get feedback. I will tell you that all the stores I went to sold 1 5c for every 30 5s. I went to 3 stores to find the 5s. One store made a joke and laughed "We finally sold a 5c!"
You might be right about the S vs C sales. At least in the US. I don't get why someone (other than a spoiled high schooler) would want the 5c. If you buy the 5s, you get a much better phone for $100 (via upgrade). As for iOS 7, I'm sure it'll make performance better. The design is just not my favorite.
Interesting. Went and got a 5c for my fiancee (she loves the two tone colors you can do with the cases) and it seemed like they were sold out of most of the 5c and 5s phones on the 20th.
With that case, I can't believe Apple would design it so you partially see iPhone written on the back of the phone through the holes. Most people won't care, but for a company where design is such a big aspect of their product, it was a pretty big oversight.
Agreed. She doesn't seem to mind though. I tried to convince her to get a HTC one (which is what I have) or a galaxy s4 but it was to no avail. I have to admit, I like the 5c's interface, minus the crazy coloring a great deal. I've always been an android fan, but who knows, in a year or two I might look at jumping over to apple.
I do too. I actually like the simplistic design. I also think they listened to much the complaints about maneuvering through the OS. I love knowing that I can "airdrop", scroll up to get the quick apps, and scroll down to hit the search function.
It's such a simple fix to put in a little rectangular hole to show the whole name, and a little apple-logo shaped hole for the logo to show through... I'm also surprised they didn't think of that.
I don't have the 5s, but I did put the new IOS7 on my iPhone and iPad and really dig it. I would like Apple to come out with a iPhone that's maybe 20% bigger, just a tad smaller than the Galaxy. I love how all my devises work so well together. I will keep on buying apple as long as this is the case.
If you use apple enough, a lot of the stuff really holds you back. like the inability to send attachments in emails very easily. seriously, what the fuck is that?
