http://www.westernjournalism.com/as...dium=WesternJournalism&utm_content=2015-09-09 Iran has its eyes on the destruction of Israel, even as President Obama is focused on the latest round of political support for his controversial nuclear deal with Iran, according to statements from its leader. On Wednesday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei referred to the United States as “The Great Satan” and gleefully predicted the destruction of Israel. Comments posted to Khamenei’s official Twitter account repeated themes expressed in speeches in Tehran earlier Wednesday. “After negotiations, in Zionist regime they said they had no more concern about Iran for next 25 years; I’d say: Firstly, you will not see next 25 years; God willing, there will be nothing as Zionist regime by next 25 years,” Khamenei wrote on Twitter. “Secondly, until then, struggling, heroic and jihadi morale will leave no moment of serenity for Zionists.” The text is imposed over a photograph showing what appears to be Khamenei walking on an Israeli flag painted on a sidewalk. Further postings on Twitter were filled with anti-American rhetoric. “We approved talks with the United States about [the] nuclear issue specifically. We have not allowed talks with the US in other fields and we [do] not negotiate with them,” Khamenei wrote. Another post said further talks would be “a tool for penetration and imposing their demands.”
HomerLovesKoolAid: Iran: "The great stuck-in-the-dark-ages-batshit-crazy-religious-wacko-motherfuckers"
Both sides get a ton of political mileage out of "hating" each other. The US is the Great Satan while Iran is the head of the Axis of Evil. The truth is Iran is one of the more democratic countries in the middle east and their citizens, especially women, enjoy much more freedom and rights than the citizens of our best friend and ally Saudi Arabia.
Awesome! That's the spirit! It is a very real possibility that Saudi Arabia is going to meltdown into civil war in the next 5 to 10 years and with us being besties we're going to end up putting our troops in the middle of it. Here are some things that women in Iran can do that women in Saudi Arabia can not: Go anywhere without a chaperone. Drive a car. Wear clothes or make-up that "show off their beauty." Interact with men. Go swimming. Compete in sports. Earlier this year Saudi Arabia proposed hosting the summer Olympics but it would be for men only, no female events would be allowed. When Saudi Arabia for the first time ever sent female athletes to the Olympics in London the women were publicly denounced as prostitutes and the women's Olympic program has since been shut down. Try on clothes when shopping.
Who gives a flying fuck what their woman can do when their leaders want to obliterate their neighboring country and would want nothing more than to kill every american? That's like saying Ted Bundy murdered all those people but is a good person because he paid his taxes.
Listen, if Iran complies with the nuclear deal, crippling economic sanctions are going to be lifted. The average Iranian citizen is going to enjoy more prosperity and there will be a flood of western goods and products into the country. The average citizen is going to like this and will have a more realistic and positive view of the west including America. This is a bit of a threat and problem for the Ayatollah and his power base. They seized power overthrowing the Shah while declaring him to be a puppet of the US. They feel they have to keep up the rhetoric against the Great Satan to stay in power. They can't suddenly go from America is evil to America is not so bad. I'm not defending them, just explaining that the average Iranian citizen is not an American and Israel hating crazy person. IMO the best way to deal with Iran in the future is not to answer the crazy rhetoric of their leaders with crazy rhetoric of our own.
If the economic sanctions are lifted, Iran will spend many newfound $billions arming terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. It doesn't matter what the average citizen there wants.
If you believe for a second that the Iranian government will feel good about America because we lift our sanctions, then I got a ice igloo I want to sell you in Arizona
America literally overthrew the democratically elected Iranian leader and replaced him with a puppet dictator in order to steal all of their wealth. Can you really blame them for holding a grudge? Some people just can't see the forrest for the trees.
We have to offer them something to shut down their nuclear program. Or do you think we should just go in there and shut it down by force?
