It isn't a one man show. Without Derrick, we have a very good team. We would have no hope to ever win the championship or be part of the elite, but we would be a good team, well coached and fairly successful. Just not like it is at present, because Derrick changes everything. The problem with Cleveland is that Lebron made it all about himself. Derrick has made it about winning, and so the team is with him, 100%.
No, I don't think we're this year's Cavs. Our success in the postseason might have a similar arc, but our team is more complete. Lebron outmatches Rose in terms of singular brilliance, and probably always will. Deng, Boozer, and Noah are borderline All-stars and all are better than the second best player on last year's Cavs. Without Rose I think we would look like the 76ers of this year. Our defense keeps us in games, and Rose is that sixth gear which makes us dangerous.
The Bulls are a team whose players allow their head coach to, um, like coach. The Cavs kinda didn't. It makes a difference.
Fairness, schmairness! This team is unique, because of how well DRose fits the coach, the system and the supporting stars and the role players. We ain't no stinkin Cavs!
No. But I do compare Rose's Bulls to Iverson's Sixers from the late 90's to the early 2000's and have done so since last season And I reckon I'm right even though its an unpopular comparison. We will go further than Iverson's Sixers though that only had Finals trip for the following reasons : 1. Rose doesn't get drawn into the sucker punch like Iverson did and can and will make plays in assisting the ball for others which means he can find ways to win with #2 talent like Boozer , where Iverson could never integrate witth anybody , whether it was Kukoc and later Igoudala or Anthony in Denver or in the clusterfuck that was Detroit. 2. Noah far exceeds Matt Geiger as "the energy big man" 3. Luol Deng, system player extraordinaire , is like George Lynch ( another classic system player ) on Steroids 4. Taj Gibson and Omer Asik are younger more athletic versions of Tyrone Hill and Dikembe Mutombo at the same stage of their careers that were winding down on Iverson's Sixers. 5.CJ Watson and Ronnie Brewer give better defense and versatility than what Eric Snow and Aaron McKie. 6. We have a much bettter specialist shooter in Kyle Korver than what the Sixers ever had
Not sure you can say that. Rose has all of the athleticism that lebron has for his position. The biggest difference is how they approach the game. To LBJ I think basketball is more of a means to an end. It's how he becomes the first billionaire athlete, which is more important to him than how many championships he wins. To Rose, basketball is the end. He doesn't seem to care about much besides winning. It's why Rose is content to pass it when he gets double teamed 40 feet from the basketball and LBJ dribbles around and takes a contested 20 footer in the same situation.
No, not at all. The Bulls have a better all around team, with Boozer and Noah being all-star level talent and a very good cadre of role players. Better than the Cavs. They also have a great coach and the team buys into what he's coaching. The Bulls operate as a team and sport the #1 defense in the league. Better than the Cavs. Finally, Rose isn't Lebron. He won't "quit" like Lebron did against the Celtics last year. That's what make Cleveland "Cleveland" last year. Lebron's mental weakness. That's not saying the Bulls can't lose a playoff series. But they won't lose one because Rose is weak and quits on his team.
