<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">TOM: Just two years out of high school, Dwight Howard finished second in the league in rebounding, averaging 12.5 per game. As the number one pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, Howard came into the NBA loaded with potential. Last year, he started delivering on that promise. He used his 6-11, 240 pound frame and his quick hands to control the paint. His offensive output, though not stellar, certainly progressed from his rookie season as Dwight upped his scoring average to 15.8 points per game on 53 percent shooting from the floor. Defensively, Howard was great around the basket. He had the awareness and presence in the paint to help on the defensive side, as he averaged 1.4 blocks per game and pulled down an impressive nine defensive boards per game. Howard’s weaknesses include turnovers (2.6 per game) and poor free throw shooting (59 percent). With the numbers that Dwight Howard put up last year, and the fact that he is only 21 years old, our real question may not be if Dwight is “real” or not but just how for real he is. Is Dwight Howard a cornerstone of a fantasy franchise? Is he first round material?

No doubt in my mind that he is a justified first round material.

He is obviously a first round material player with his avgs. last season. The real question is: Can he lead this team to the playoffs?

I don't know about first round for this year. I got him late 2nd as he flies under the radar. I would probably take.... Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Duncan, Dirk, Nash, Bosh, Kirilenko, Marion, Chris Paul, Iverson, Pierce and potentially Jermaine O Neal over Dwight. So in a typical 10 team league I would probably wait until the 2nd round to get him.

I would take Dwight over Jermaine imo. Dwight is getting better and I don't exactly have any expectations that J. O'Neal can raise his stats any higher.

Jermaine O'Neal is good but Indiana retained Al Harrington which will get a lot of rebounds and points. I mean O'Neal is gonna stay the same with his avgs. but Dwight will improve. Maybe not on his rebounding but overall will improve. In a 12 team league, I would get him 1st. I have gotten him 3rd in one of my leagues and got earlier Elton Brand.
