EliteXC has the Shamrock/Kimbo fight coming up October 3rd. Has anyone even heard about it yet, other than hardcores like us that are on the blogs everyday?

You've got to figure this is the biggest MMA fight EliteXC and CBS have been involved with yet. It's only a matter of weeks and I've heard nothing about it in the mainstream.

    What are they thinking?

Yea, I haven't really heard anything about it. I knew it was happening like a month ago, but kind of completely forgot about it.

If the event is happening early October I would imagine CBS promoting heavily starting from the week of the 22nd. I say this because thats when all their fall shows start to premiere.

Maybe so but the UFC advertises three months in advance. You'd think EliteXC would be wanting to copy their business model. I mean, the casual fan right now doesn't know Kimbo is fighting Ken Shamrock in three weeks. Not a lot of time to get the ball rolling.

CBS is as much to blame--but--I'm not watching CBS so I dunno if they are doing anything.

you know, I rarely see any advertising for any MMA events on tv. I just happen to know when the next UFC is because of the internet. So maybe EliteXC and CBS is banking on word of mouth, print ads in area the event is happening, and then a few tv commercials when the time for the event is closer.
