New article fro WFAN... http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/10/08/joe-girardi-reportedly-wants-to-explore-cubs-vacancy/
The Yankees need no more drama, lets hope the man either does it or gets off the pot. The Yankees played with Arod and CC and lost. I'd like to see Girardi stay but if the cash on the table isn't enough then grab the first Chicago, Cincy or DC bound dog out of Port Authority.
I say if he wants to go just let him go and pull the offer off the table and start looking for the next manager. I do not want Pena and I think Mattingly will stay with the Dodgers so don't know who would be best for the Yankees.
Seems that Mattingly is coming under a lot of fire over there people questioning his moves which thus far have been successful. On the old ESPN Boards the so called Dodger Fans used to bash Mattingly pretty bad. Does seem strange that the Dodgers have not even tendered a "we'll talk to Donnie after the season".
My thought on Girardi is this. Give him a reasonable deadline to accept the offer and if he doesn't move on. If he truly wants to explore other options than he's as good as gone in my book.
I totally agree with Messiah...He has had the offer since Thursday so I would make this Thursday the deadline. That is one week. IF you don't know if you want to accept a job for a ton of money in one week then you really don't so move on and then the Yankees can move on with their search for a new manager.
If he excepts the offer he'd become the 2nd highest paid mgr in baseball (I'll never understand that) but yes, give him a dead line to take it or leave it.
I completely agree... I say give the offer an expiration date. If he doesn't accept it, oh well and move on... no more drama
Granted we can't always believe what the media is telling us. For all we know Girardi is just going over the finer points of the contract. That being said if he's conflicted about taking the Cubs job it's best to thank him for his service and make the choice for him.
