He thinks there's a fair chance Arod can return and put up better or similar numbers of Headley, Garret Jones...and even Billy Butler. In DH/3b/1b duty. Read it and laugh....or weep. lol http://nypost.com/2015/02/02/a-rod-believes-hes-better-than-headley-and-he-might-be-right/
...Sherman managed to hand pick some irrelevant stats (Billy fucking Butler et al) and also managed to contradict himself. He also wrongly compares the numbers of ARod as a DH vs Headley as a 3Bman because he knows full well that ARod can't touch Headley defensively. ...So what it boils down to is that Joel has no idea what ARod is going to be this year.
The more I read and see Sherman on MLB the more my respect for him diminishes. As far as A-hole goes I am still baffled as to how a rich and powerful organization like the Yankees has to tip toe around this clown.
I don't think they're tip toeing around him. They can release him, if not, they are going to see what he does or doesn't have left. Cashman has already come out and said he has to earn a spot....I guess for now we should try and fill in the blanks. In the meantime, I don't think the Yankees should or will try and harass him or anything. And then of course whether we like it or not, and Joel Sherman isn't the first one to point this out, in Arod's last appearance two yrs ago with the Yankees 44G, 188 PA he posted the .771 OPS and had more HRs and RBI than Headley had in his similar time with the Yanks. Arod's .771 - albeit it in only 44 games- was also higher than any 2014 Yankee. Headley is a nice player and is the Yankee 3b, and nobody is expecting Arod to be a full time player - but IMO - the Yankees wouldn't mind if Arod can produce an OPS of .750 or so with double digit HRs in part time DH ect duty. Of course this could all be moot as most here believe he won't even make it out of ST.
