<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">FORT MILL - Raymond Felton, Julius Hodge and Deron Williams frolic beneath the basket. They've finished their Monday morning workouts for the Charlotte Bobcats, and now they're cutting up, showing off and going high for contest-quality slams. If somebody told you they were lifelong friends, you wouldn't disagree. In a folding chair behind the court, in long denim shorts and a bright white T-shirt, sits Rashad McCants. His black and white Nike high tops have been removed and are on the floor in front of him. His standard issue NBA white socks are the only proof he has been anything more than a spectator. My first impression is that McCants is in a Time Out. Until you learn to be responsible, young man, you have to sit in the corner and surrender PlayStation2 privileges. McCants is not being punished Monday. He hurt his left hamstring, for the first time in his life, late in the first facet of the workout, the conditioning phase. He left the court and was unable to join Felton, his teammate the past three seasons at North Carolina; Williams, whose Illinois team lost to the Tar Heels in the national championship; and Hodge, his rival from N.C. State. "It's like an ACC reunion," says Felton.</div> Source
I think he is. His offensive skills are very good. He is unstoppable when going to the hoop. His attitude may be horrible, but his skills are just to good to pass up.
No question. Based on talent, he's a top 10 pick, possibly better. The only question about him is his attitude. There's also the height thing...but if Mobley, Wesley and Gordon can play big minutes at the 2, why can't McCants? He's no Ron Artest, but his comments about UNC and other subjects might shy people away from choosing him because of his attitude. However, if he gets his mind straight and puts in a good work ethic to what he does, he'll be a very good player in this league.
but have you watched his D? Pretty soft and add up the negatives, apathetic and inconsistant D,An abrassive ego,an untimely injury, being an "undersize" without Point skills or a super 3- and you have a very late rd 1 at best

He had one injury and then played great in the title game. All he needs is to fix the ego and maybe get better defensively, but that's what coaches are for.

He was not a horrible defender at the college level as you're making it seem. How many times have you seen him play? This year he was one of the best players in the college basketball without a question. Everyone has questions about his attitude, but a player like with that kind of talent is a late first rounder...atleast. What do PG skills have to do with anything? Whoever drafts him are drafting him as a SG. When he's in the NBA, he's not going to be the player running the plays, he's going to be the player your setting players for (once he adapts to the NBA).
I will lose interest in the NBA draft if Mccants is not a first round pick, heck even if Mccants is picked below 20 I will lose interest. Mccants earned it, he played three amazing years at UNC. I don't care what you say about his attitude or how tall he is, this kid can play. I basically have the same mindset as Banks with the height issue, if other players can play major minutes being 6'4" and less then why can't Mccants. Plus what he lacks in height he makes up in his nice jumpshot and leaping ability. Rashad will be a hell of a player where ever he goes but I would prefer he goes to a team in the lottery.
