For the last two years he's been hosting Golden Globes and has received criticism for "harsh" jokes.

I personally think he's hilarious and the actors getting upset are just being little bitches. Thoughts?

I think he got in trouble by calling out people directly. It was hilarious though.

    Hilarious.

A little too brash at an awards show? Absolutely. He'd be perfect for roasting.

    But still a genius.

    Harsh? Yes. Entertaining? Yes.

Is the point to get people to watch or to make the stars happy?

I don't really know the answer to that, but if it's the former than he's perrrfeck.

I thought it was very funny. I also don't think it was inappropriate...a group of privileged people holding an event to celebrate themselves should have more of a sense of humour about themselves and the whole event.

Would it have been on-topic if he would have posted that Gervais' act has worn out, he's done and will never win another job again?

Why does Hollywood take itself so seriously? Drew Carey said it best, "Lighten up, people".

    Gervais is great.

The HFPA is a joke. At least Ricky is funny for the right reasons.

You know, the thing that goes in vacuum cleaners that makes the air smell fresh?

Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The people that vote for the Golden Globes. The actual makeup of the association is kind of hilarious. It is restricted to writers living in So-Cal publishing a minimum of four articles per annum in foreign publications, some of which amount to little more than sidebars in tabloids. In fact being a professional writer or film critic is not a prerequisite for membership as many members are part-time contributors. But the real problem is the HFPA has a long history of corruption and has been on the Hollywood bankroll for decades. They are currently being sued by a former long-time publicist who claims "HFPA members accept lavish vacations and gifts from studios in exchange for their support of certain movies, that they sell red-carpet media credentials for profit, and ... the publicist's firm was fired by the HFPA after he asked the organization to clean up the "unethical and potentially unlawful deals" in which it routinely engages."

I think I'm totally desensitized to this type of humor because I don't view anything he said as harsh.

Steve Buscemi looked afraid when he brought up Boardwalk Empire at the 3:30 point.

I enjoyed the humor much more than the actors did, it seems.
