I was reading an editorial on Cowboys.com today and Spagnola said at least two knowlegable observers that were present at practice in Oxnard this week commented that, in thier opinion, if Romo ever gets a real chance to start Bledsoe wouldn't get his job back. I saw him throw some passes in practice today on video, pretty nice arm, good feet, accurate, spunky and, by all accounts, is willing to do whatever it takes to win. Bill says he will play Romo all preseason so he can see if he is ready to cross that threshhold to the next level of competition. I guess we should all take a deep breath and repeat after me....ahem....Troy Aikman has retired and aint comin' back today or any other day so get over it already. Later.....

I'll say this about Romo, he's got the heart and the talent. But as we all know it also takes a ton of smarts to be a successful NFL QB. Having said that, the guy's a scratch golfer (we're talking border line pro-golfer here), so he does have some brains. Now weither or not that can translate on to the field is yet to be seen. Personally, I'd be happy if Tony pans out to be the Cowboys QB of the future. I like the guy.

How does being a border line pro golfer equate to having brains? If anything, it indicates persistence and the ability to adapt - no more no less.

But coming from a golf-crazed family, I've been taught that it's a game for the strong minded. So I guess that's the point I was trying to make. I mean, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, etc. These guys are no dummies.
We will find out on Romo this preseason, when he is going to get a majority of the snaps. This is a coin-flip with him. He's got some talent, but he's also a real gunslinger similar to Favre (gunslinger, not talent). His risk-taking was evident last preseason against Oakland when he went against the called play and put the game on the line. He came away with the win then, but it was obvious to see his style was risky. For an undrafted rookie, you want to bring him along as much as you can before throwing him to the wolves.
