Had a discussion over text with some friends about if the election is 'rigged?' This is the only real political forum I go and figured I'd ask those here. Personally I think people cheat at just about everything in life, the old adage "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying" lives on for a reason. Think about all the stupid things people cheat at to try and win, why wouldn't they try to cheat to win the biggest position in our country.

Sure, a simple google search will show there is cheating. And in some very rare cases it does make a difference in smaller local races. But in statewide and national elections, imo, there has not been cheating that has changed a legitimate result. I honestly believe that Trump did cheat to try and overturn the results of the last election.

I don't think the voting is rigged at all.

I think the public is manipulated by social media and the news. which can have an impact on the election. If you want to call that cheating, so be it.

Depends on what is classified as cheating. Gerrymandering? Purposeful dissemination of disinformation?

Setting ballot boxes on fire is cheating.

Purging legitimate voters from voting rolls is cheating.

Intimidating voters at polling places is cheating.

Turning in fake voter registration forms is cheating.

Voting for a person who is recently deceased is cheating.

All of these things have happened in the last week.

I don't think voting is rigged. There is cheating in small scales. People voting twice or for their dead parent or something. A few of those instances happened last election and it was mostly on the right.

Money in politics skews election. Electoral college is totally undemocratic. Two parties with no proportional representation like other democracies have is undemocratic. Major media controlled by a handful of very rich, mostly white males.

So it could be argued no election is truly "free and fair". But they are not rigged or stolen or stolen...

    Exactly.

There is no mass cheating in any state or by any state in the federal election. Trump is just trying to sow doubt and set up for challenges when he loses.

He can't admit defeat so he must always point a finger and say bad things are happening and the election was stolen. It's all bullshit.

All that is true. But, outside of that the elections are not rigged or stolen. Everyone who votes legally will have their vote count.

Are some peoples votes more important than others, yes.

I think what you're asking is if it is rigged. Generally, it is not rigged. Unless you want to consider the electoral college as rigged. But it is probably working as intended.

The Florida election in 2000 was definitely rigged.

There should be a poll option for "Whatever cheating there might be is tiny and insignificant."

When Trump won in 16, we didn’t hear about any cheating though…….

Yeah I voted yes but that was for the ratshittery which is cheating but not rigging. The elections are not yet rigged.

I think Musk selling million dollar lottery tickets for their vote is cheating...every election there is cheating but not ever on a large scale...one state might find half a dozen of them in any given election. Replacing vote counters with partisan vote counters is cheating as well. Ruining election workers lives in Georgia with lies about fraud is cheating. Lying about your resume is also cheating.

Ya forgot to mention that most of those were perpetrated by Republicans. Still waiting to see who torched the local ballot boxes but why would a Democrat do that in heavily Democratic states….?

Lying on your immigration forms (looking at you Elon) is also cheating.
