I know we are only down 1 game but its about time to ask ourselves if this is the end of the Pistons Dominince in the east. Right now our team has one player who is at the very end of his prime in Ben, one who is nearing the end in Sheed, we have a player who is great when he can make a shot but when he misses the whol world should watch out for flying balls in rip, Tayshaun does not look like he is ready to lead a team yet and Billups needs to realize that MVP candidates dont take games off or even possesionsoff. Our team is getting old and with out much young talent behind them im sensing a down time that would about equal the teal years. If you look at the bench you try to find someone who is under 26 and all you see is Delfino and Maxiel. Sure you can argue that Acker and Johnson are there but really I only see Johnson being a 6th man at best and Acker a lifetime bench warmer. So we have to ask ourselves if resigning ben to a 10+ million dollar contract is the right thing to do. Are you going to reward a guy for what he has done for you in the past and risk your future or will you let your team's icon leave just so you have a brighter future and sacrifice championships and a great leader. Then i think Sheed has to go, Championship or not. I know he is a great player but do you really want him around spreading the idea to the younger players taht a way to warm up before a game is taking half-court left handed shots? and the way to speak to the media is predict a victory taht just makes the other team fired up to beat you? I love sheeds antics just as much as the next guy but im not sure if ill like it as much when Delfino is prediciting victories when our team is below .500 and in the lottery. I Also think we have to go get a young player who is a pure scorer. Rip is the closest thing we have to it but he is not a scorer. We need someone like Redd or Wade or Lebron. I know this might be a year or two early but i think these are the questions pistons fans need to ask themselves in the next couple months. Is a pistons championship right now more important than 15 years of being in the lottery? Or Do we really want to get rid of Ben and Sheed just so we can have a future of playoffs but not necessarily championship? I dont want you guys to think that i believe the pistons are done. I think they win the Championship this year and contend again next year if they keep this crew. Im just not sure i want 15 more years of teal.

Good post. I've been thinking about the situation the Pistons may be in, in a few years for a while. If they re-sign Ben, it doesn't look good. They're getting old and everyone good besides Prince is already near the end of their prime or past it. As hard as it probably is letting Ben go for you guys, I think that's how it's gonna have to be, if you want to prepare for the future. By re-signing him (assuming he wants market money), you'll be in the pits for some time in terms of your cap situation and you may be good for maybe another year or two, but the truth is the team will only be on a slow decline from then on.

Come on, I don't think you can say that. We played one of our worst games while the Heat played their best. We won't come out like that again. The fans at the Palace need to be going crazy not this stupid silent crap. We are fine I'm not to worried about us, if we lose game 2 that's when we need to start worrying.

yeah im not talking about this series...im more talking about the off-season and beyond. Like i said i think we win this series and the ship this season and maybe even next season with the same team. so im not worried for the present but teh future im concerned like no other....i guess im just going to have to enjoy the present and not the future.

I think we don't need to give up Ben, just sign him for a smaller amount of years.I agree, Rasheed should go. I haven't ever really liked him. He helped the team, but he's not that important.Rip should stay for a while, same with Tayshaun, Maxiel, Amir, and Billups. We should sign Ben to a 2 year deal.
