<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">^^Why do you always take cheap shots at the Lakers? Just wondering..</div> Not taking a cheap shot, what I said is true...Lakers fans I know have said so themselves...
Yeah, but this thread had almost nothing to do with the Lakers..nobody was saying anything about the Lakers, and like usual, you come along and say some negative thing about the Lakers... classic.. But thanks for answering my question...
No I was replying to King James's post when he said "Just another one of those guys Shape, that had it all. 20ppg a night down the drain." Which is why I mentioned the Lakers..As he was the last team he played for and was not a success....I come along and say something negative about the Lakers? how was what I said negative? Wasn't a knock on the Lakers...It was just another typical player going to the Lakers just to get a title with Shaq..
Bullcrap, you just wanted to diss the Lakers and I know it..Rider prolly didn't even go to the Lakers to win a ring, he prolly got his ring and sold it for drug money.. okay, let's just let this die..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">Bullcrap, you just wanted to diss the Lakers and I know it....</div> It wasn't dissing the Lakers..but since you are the offically Laker groupie you took offense...You are like those CLB who people pass in the streets Rider went to L.A to get a ring just like Mitch Richmond....
Buddy, I said drop it, but you must keep it going. Aren't mods held at a higher standard? I guess Rider went for the ring, but he had the perfect situation too. How could you pass it up: play behind Kobe, play some point, feed off Shaq, have a great coach... ?

This topic is about Rider...And thats who I'm talking about..
... he's right allnet, it's the dream situation. of course he wanted to get a ring, who in their right mind doesn't want to get a ring???? where's the best place to get a ring??? lakers, so it's common sense to go there if you want a ring. get to play along side 2 top 6 players and have arguably the greatest coach of all time. if i was in the nba, i would go to the lakers to get my ring.

rider wasn't ever good enough to get a ring by himself, not everyone can beat shaq and kobe to get a ring, might as well get the ring.
I would LOVE to play with Shaq..know how much more confident I would be on the court knowing he is there? Wow. Too easy.
MDE I'm not sure why you are taking it as a diss. If anything it's a compliment towards the Lakers franchise. Player's are willing to take less pay and take on a lesser role to get a ring. They realize the Lakers are the best team in the league. How is that a diss? I don't blame aging, washed up players wanting one last shot at a ring. *<font color="Red">And again, please stop attacking the Mods and trying to bait them. They are doing a great job and if you don't like how we handle our site please feel free to leave.</font>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting sportsrock37:</div><div class="quote_post">rider wasn't ever good enough to get a ring by himself, not everyone can beat shaq and kobe to get a ring, might as well get the ring.</div> Who said anything about him getting one on his own? If you aren't in a team that has a great chance to get a ring..It wasn't meant to be..If Rider played hard and had a great year with the Lakers but he slacked off and had a bad attuide....then he would of earned it...but Like Richmond didn't...Rider was a pretty good player..averaged 20 a game and 19 the year after...He just threw away his career..
Rider is a poor example of someone trying to jump on the bandwagon. Teams weren't exactly lininup up to sign him as a FA. The Lakers actually did want him, so he went there. I dont hear anyone complaining about the Spurs signing Rasho. Rasho could have stayed in Minnesota, but he jumped to a team for a better chance to win a ring. What about Alonzo Mourning?> He went to NJ to have a better chance at a ring. I don't see anyone complaining about that. Its bec. the Lakers signed GP and Malone. After their great, great careeers, they deserve a shot. Neither had a shot with their former teams. They remained loyal through their enitre career to one team.(GP didn't asked to be traded). There is no such thing as having a ring handed to you. If the Lakers win it, its bec. they earned it. They still have to show up, put in the exrra hard work, and play well to win it all. And that is earning it.
You have a point there, but in Richmond's case... he was a top player when he went to the Lakers, averaging 16.2 ppg in 37 games for the Wizards the year before. In his year with the Lakers he played 64 games, averaging 4.1 ppg in 11.1 minutes per game, so it's not like he really contributed to the team winning the championship. I don't really blame him for going there (I would have done the same), but it's not like he really earned the ring, he jumped the Shaq-Kobe-Phil bandwagon.
