<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Isiah Thomas, who earlier this season hinted that Allan Houston may have to consider early retirement, expressed doubt yesterday as to whether the Knicks' veteran shooting guard will play again. "Reality tells me that I have to plan as if Allan Houston won't be here," Thomas said in a radio interview on WFAN's "Mike and the Mad Dog" program. "Now, if Allan Houston returns, that's great. But I have to plan and move on as if Allan Houston is not going to play." Houston, who has been sidelined since Jan. 21 with an arthritic left knee, has appeared in only 20 games. Over the past two seasons, Houston has missed 69 of a possible 139 games. After signing a franchise record six-year, $100 million contract in August of 2001, Houston will earn $56 million through 2007, including $17.5 million this year. Houston has vowed to return to the lineup this season. When asked in January about the possibility of retiring, Houston said, "not for me. Not right now at all." </div> Source Great vote of confidence Isiah.
I don't know what that means, but I hope Allan can return sucessfully. He will do wonders for us without touching the ball. Isiah isn't Allan and untill I hear the words come out of Allan's mouth, than I'll take it seriously.

I hope this isnt true, i really like houston as a player for his great offense and good D. Crawford is great but I would rather see Houston play some minutes
I *insert heart here* Housten (not the city) I really hope that Allam Housten returns. He is one of my favorite players, and I have fond memories of him when the Knicks made that great playoff run a few years back (OK maybe a little more than a few). Also, on my NBA Live 2005 (great game) team he hits 3s like.......like.........he's really good. And if he can return to be anywhere close to where his shot used to be, he will be a valueable part of the Knicks despite his large contract (curse you Scott Layden).
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SuperAMB:</div><div class="quote_post">Sorry for my stupidity - I misspelled Allan AND Houston </div> LOL u made him sound like someone from al queda
Houston says he'll be back and his word is good enough for me. Isiah has made blunder after blunder and mistake after mistake no reason to think he's right about Houston. It's only over for Houston when he says it is.
This could be just another ploy by Isiah to force Allan Houston into retirement. He obviously wants to be rid of his contract and by going to radio stations and commenting on what you think your players should do is just downright wrong, especially coming from someone in his position. Hey, maybe this team can be like the Chicago Bulls of the 90's where the one thing that unified them together was their hatred for their GM (Krause). They did win a few championships that decade. But then again they had a guy named Jordan.....

Anyway, yeah it'd be kinda better for it to come out of Allan's mouth, but yet, kinda not. Because Allan always has <u>a lot</u> of faith. And sometimes, he cant face reality and we get all excited when he says hes almost perfectly healthy and ready for action very soon, and then when he returns, 20 games later, blah.
reversal i have reversed my allen houston stance...i dont want him to retire...we wouldnt be under the cap anyway with his contract gone for the next two years but we could use him as trade bait in two years...

If we trade Houston in the final year of his contract we will NEVER get under the cap. NEVER EVER. Then when Sweetney and Ariza become free agents and start wanting to get paid we're really going to have problems. Enough with trading our expiring contracts. We're turning into the suckers of the NBA. Teams are unloading their heavily paid players on us and were just smiling and taking it. We must keep our expiring contracts. Every single last one of them. We must keep TT, Penny, JYD, Houston, Taylor, Rose. Let them come off the books so that we can have a normal sized payroll. No more sign and trades please. Let's get under the cap so that some day in the future we'll be able to sign some big impact free agent. Is that too much to ask?

The knicks will never be under the cap. FOr some reason every major new york sports team has the illusion that we, new york fans, wont stand to rebuild. They will never take the neccesary steps of allowing the contracts to run out so we can get under the cap... it would take three years of steady decline...never happening...

I said stop allowing teams to drop their salary on us and let the contracts expire. It wont take three years of steady decline to get under the cap what are you talking about? We just hang onto the players we have right now until their contracts expire. Besides we've pretty much hit rock bottom anyway there's nowhere else to decline to.
even if this aint true...wat wud actually change? i mean,he's always injured, and as far as i know,he wont be able to regain the old him...but of course, i aint sayin that he shud not play anymore or something...b/c he can really help the Knicks...btw,watsup w/ Zeke and Houston? if i got it right, they're sayin 2 different statements...
