<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Isiah Thomas is exploring the possibility of reacquiring Trevor Ariza, a player Larry Brown referred to as "delusional", the New York Daily News. Signing Ariza, a restricted free agent, appears to be a longshot, since Thomas drafted swingman Renaldo Balkman in the first round and has him under contract for three years. The Orlando Magic has the option to match any offer made to Ariza, who is looking to make $3 million per season. Ariza's agent, David Lee, told Florida Today that his client is "a jump shot away from being an All-Star." Lee also said that Sacramento, Houston and Denver have expressed interest in the athletic forward. </div> Source
No chance here for you Knicks to bring him back in my opinion. Your backcourt is already crowded, so why would you bring in someone else?
Marbury, Francis, Richardson, Robinson, Rose, Balkman, Crawford, and Collins with all those players in the Knicks backcourt/ swing man spot already it is not exactly a great situation for someone is a “jump shot away from being an all star” to go into.

I don't think we're getting him back because he probably feels betrayed getting traded. I don't think I would want to re-sign with a team that traded me.

Rose can play 1-3, Francis, Crawford, Marbury can play 1-2, Collins can play 1-2 and a little 3, and Richardson and Balkman can play 2-3. Besides, Isiah is playing the people who play consistent defense and that's what Ariza specializes in.

Regardless of that, minutes would still be a stretch for Ariza. Balkman and Q each play the 3 most of the time, and Mardy Collins can slide down there too. So, while you might not have "defensive minded" swingmen...you still have a plethora of them.

Put it like this: the Knicks are looking for defense so much, they were willing to pass up on a couple of potential all-stars in the draft for Balkman, thought to go undrafted by many. We don't really have a plethora of swingman, just a lot of guards. In terms of small forwards we have Jalen Rose, Quentin Richardson, and Renaldo Balkman. All three can play minutes at different positions, so small forward isn't as crowded as many think it is. And Isiah said those who play the best defense will see the most minutes which means Ariza should see decent minutes.
Ariza is not leaving Orlando for NY! Orlando is on the upswing and is gonna be good for years to come and NY is just a big enigma. I hope ariza stays with the Magic because If he was that valuable they shouldnt have traded him for Steve. GL NY!
