<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Pistons president Joe Dumars had a lot on his mind from the time he was announced in May as a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class.

First came the playoffs, then the draft, then free agency and the summer league. There wasn't a lot of time to sit and think about his impending inductions.

"I didn't really think about it at all until August," he said.

But finally, with most of the summer business finalized, he had time to put his mind to the September inductions. And he picked an old friend and teammate to do his introduction.

It's an obvious choice, sure, but who else could Dumars pick besides Isiah Thomas, his old Pistons backcourt running mate? The two combined to form one of the best backcourts in NBA history.

Only those previously enshrined can introduce new members. Thomas, now the coach and president of the New York Knicks, went into the Hall in 2000. The two won two titles together as members of the Bad Boys teams in 1989 and 1990.

Dumars will be enshrined during Hall of Fame festivities Sept. 8-9 in Springfield, Mass. His fellow inductees include Charles Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma, former Big East commissioner David Gavitt and Italian National Team coach Sandro Gamba.</div>
