It was high drama last night as the Islanders opened their season -- an injured superstar, an oft-injured goalie trying to regain his form and a young team fighting back and showing enough heart to gain what might be the most hard-fought point it will earn this year. In the end the Islanders lost, 5-4, in a shootout to the Stars, witnessed by 13,351 at Nassau Coliseum. In the shootout, after the Isles couldn't put one past Kari Lehthonen, Mike Ribeiro put the final shot past Rick DiPietro on a deke and forehand wrister.
