"Rick who? That was the sarcastic question on the lips of 13,119 Islanders fans last night as they walked out of the Coliseum having watched their team dominate for a 3-0 win over the red-hot Kings that included 35 saves by their sixth starting goalie of the season, Al Montoya. Of course, their regular starting goalie, Rick DiPietro, has played just 34 games over the past three years because of injury, and is currently out after breaking his face in a fight with Penguins goalie Brent Johnson earlier in the month. "This is day to day for me, and I'm enjoying it," said Montoya, who last week was playing for the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes AHL affiliate, and was obtained by Islanders for a sixth-round pick. "I know what I'm capable of doing," he said. "I just have to go out there and do it. I have the skill. But at the same time, I have to thank this organization for each day, being here, and giving me a chance to play. That's what they said they would do." Montoya, who was drafted by the Rangers and spent four years in their system, paused. "It's unreal," he said. Adding to the surreal atmosphere was Matt Moulson putting two goals past his brother-in-law, Kings goalie Jonathan Quick. "I think [yesterday] I was little more nervous than usual," said Moulson, who now has 23 goals on the season. "I didn't really want to get chirped by all our family members, so it was a little motivation." The Islanders have now won five of their last six, this game coming as a statement victory over a team that is in the midst of the tough Western Conference playoff hunt. Before last night, the Kings were on an eight-game road trip, going 5-0-3, and had recorded a point in the past 11 games (8-0-3)."
