So, is anybody on this forum a college basketball fan? I know we've got some college football fans, but I might go stir crazy after this great week of college basketball if not one other poster thinks that NCAA Basketball is worth watching.

In my opinion, the collegiate game is a better watch than the pro game. There's more passion and more intensity. I know those are both subjective qualities, but it is easy to pick up on that after watching a college basketball game, then turning to a big game like the Lakers/Spurs. There's just such a momentum drop. You go from watching guys compete their hearts out, in front of thousands of screaming fans with invested interests, to watching guys play for themselves in front of the equivalent of PGA crowds.

I don't even buy that the NBA is a better "quality" product. Some of the biggest bastardizations of the game have come from pro basketball. For example, I have yet to see "flops" consistently on the NCAA level, nor "star favoritism."

If Dwyane Wade were honest, he'd tell you that it was harder to draw a foul at Marquette than with the Miami Heat.

...I follow my Beavers religiously. There might be a case to be made for me proclaiming that THIS is the year that they finally make the big dance, but I truly believe that this IS the year. Coach Robinson finally has all of his type of players in the system and with the last couple years of solid recruits he finally has the depth needed to get a few more wins than last year's 20+ [even without this year's first round draft pick, JC]! It's March Madness or bust and I have a good feeling that basketball tradition at Gill Coliseum will finally be restored once again -- with or without Gary Payton's donation(s) [or lack thereof] :devilwink:

I love watching college hoops but this year I fear I have to much on my plate and will have to choose between nba and college hoops.

I love college basketball. I've been a Carolina fan since I was born.

It's going to be an interesting year in North Carolina. We have State, Duke and Carolina all ranked in the top 20. I bet they'll all be in the top 10 at some point in the season, possibly all in the top 5.

    I'm excited.
