DALLAS (September 1, 2004) --The Dallas Mavericks waived guard Jon Stefansson today. The Iceland native signed with the Mavericks as a free agent on September 2, 2003. Jon Stefansson ?Jon is very young and talented. He needs to have a chance to play in order to develop as a player. Therefore, we feel it mutually beneficial that he pursues other opportunities. He has a bright future and we wish him nothing but the best,? said President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson. Stefansson (6-5, 205) played for Dallas in the Long Beach Summer Pro League and the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue this summer. He averaged 9.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in nine games. He spent the 2003-04 season on the injured list with a sprained left ankle. Link
Well, I dont know what to say about this one, he did show some potential, I wonder who will be the next one getting the boot.
From the limitted view that I've had of this guy, he does seem to have potential. He has a great stroke and is a good size for a shooting guard. Too bad he was buried so deep on the Mavs roster. I hope someone picks him up. Is Dan Dikauw next?
I have not seen this guy play much but, from those two stats you posted (Points/Rebounds) He looks like he has potential. I wonder if anyone will pick him up.
jon has a lot of pontential and he signed with one of the best teams in russia. its too bad that the mavs had so many of them combo guards so jon didn't get to play but he will definently be picked up or at least i hope so as an icelander
he signed with dynamo st.petersburg for more money and almost guaranteed playing time good luck my icelandic brother
