It is only fair to call the New England Patriots the biggest disappointment in the history of the NF

Let me preface this as saying I'm a die-hard Cowboys fan. I really dislike the Gnats. I would hate them, but the Foreskins exist. I have no affection towards either team and offer this view objectively.

Now coming into this game the Patriots were riding a hype-train that lasted all season long. Comparisons to the great Dolphins team started midway, and by the time they went 16-0, they were being billed as a team who had the opportunity to be the greatest team ever. Heck, they were being talked up as the greatest team ever so much that Brady was included in talks of being the greatest QB ever (cough, cough).

Now that they've gone undefeated and failed when it mattered, making every blow out, every win, every record they've achieved a moot point, does losing this game make the potentially greatest team ever the greatest disappointment?

The world was ready to crown them the greatest in history if they won the game, so now that they've lost I think its only fair to call them the biggest disappointment in history.

In a way, you can call them the Dallas Mavericks of the NFL.

No. The Packers losing to the Broncos in XXXII was the worst disappointment.

Wrong. Marino only geting 1 crack at the Lombardi trophy was the biggest disappointment, but, what do I know I'm biased.

The Giants only scored 17 points in that game, it was the single biggest chokejob in the history of the NFL. God rules.

It was definitely the biggest chokejob I've ever seen. The Patriots looked like crap and seemed to do the exact opposite of what made them successful all year. The Giants also played an amazing game and deserve to be the champions. Now that the Pats have lost, I think the 11 wins in a row on the road was the biggest and best story of this football season. The Pats won all the meaningless games this year but completely dismantled when it really mattered.

Maybe they just took the Giants to lightly, which is stupid, cause their last game was pretty close

Didn't look anything close to the team that went 18-0.

But I wouldn't go around calling them the biggest disappointment, remember they broke all kinds of records and are the only team to go 18-1. I don't see any other team doing that any time soon.

Again hats of to the Giants.

If I'm not mistaken the 85 Bears went 18-1, only they won the Super Bowl.

    Correct.

    85 Bears > 07 Patriots.

    Ok, I was wrong. [IMG]

But still they broke a lot of records. And in the process became the most hated team in the NFL.

Of course it was a gigantic disappointment. But, this loss allows us to put the entire second half of the Pats season in perspective: they were a damn good team, but they weren't as dominant, they looked beatable, and they pulled a bunch of wins out of their asses. I personally don't like punishing a team for a ridiculously overactive media.

And on the flipside, let's recognize the '07-08 Giants as one of the best playoff teams in NFL history.

Surely, I can't be the only one to see the irony in the Pats this yr. They were a team primarily known for its defense; they go out and get a bunch of weapons For Tommy Boy and its not enough.

Furthering the irony, the Giants started 0-2 and came on at the right time just like the Steelers 2 ys ago. Proving once again, its not how you start but how you finish.

Maxwell Smart can sum up the Pats season best, "Missed it by that much."

Any given sunday, except in 72
I think the biggest disappointment still has to be the Bills.

No, BF1, the league is now looking for cameras. They can't get away with that anymore like they did against the Rams.
