Steve Nash: "The ball has a tacky feel that's making shooting and certain types of passes tricky" "I certainly won't have to lick my fingers. The ball sticks to your hand. It's a big transition. It's extremely sticky,""We do have a month to get it going," he said. "Right now I would say that the basketball sticks to the floor, it sticks to the backboard. It is different"Jermaine O'Neal: The person who decided to change the ball "needs his college degree revoked."Pat Riley: . "I think it's horrible. ... It really does feel like an indoor-outdoor ball. We'll see how it works. Maybe they'll learn to love it, I don't know."7 Miami Heat players: Of seven Heat players interviewed about the new ball at the team's media day Monday and after practice Tuesday, not one preferred it to the old leather model. Certainly not Shaq, who took a spinning jump hook in the lane, about six feet from the basket. But the ball slipped in his hand and went straight up in the air -- without moving toward the hoop at all.Shaquille O'Neal: "I think the new ball is terrible," O'Neal said Monday. "It's the worst decision some expert, whoever did it, made. ... The NBA's been around how long? A hundred years? Fifty years? So to change it now, whoever that person is needs his college degree revoked. It's a terrible decision."http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/424...ball_is_better/

Changing th ball to this stickier, indoor-outdoor type ball was a terrible decision. Scoring will go down again, guaranteed. It IS much harder to shoot jumpers with that type of ball. If they were going to change ball, should have been to 10 differentsections between black seems (or whatever they are) over the 8 they use. It helps improve grip but leather and all of that is the same.
Didn't Shaq say that whoever made the decision "needs to be fired," not the whole "college degree revoked" line...
the ball they were trying, are they all brand new ??? nash says it's so sticky that it sticks to the floor...........shouldn't it be less sticky after using it a couple of games.Isn't it like wearing a brand new shoes, at first it feels different and after a fews days you start feeling more comfortable.NOTE: stickier ball is good for your control but if it's too much that it sticks on the floor then it will disrupt the timing of your dribbling.
I think if it get's to out of hand and enough players and coaches complain about it during the season the league may just change it back.

I definitely can understand what the players mean when they say they are sticky. There was no need to change the ball.

Corey Maggette, and Vince Carter also said it was terrible. They're just gonna have to adjust to it though. Vince also predicted that they would go back to the old ball during pre-season once the League saw that percentages were going down..
since when does choosing a ball have anything to do with someones college education and how intelligent they are. freakin morons, if Jermaine O'neal actually said that it would be hilarious since the guy doesn't even have a college education.

Im going to have to play or use the ball before I can make a judgement. But by the looks, im gonna go with Nash...IT LOOKS TACKY.I could go on, but my main point is I find this as a disgrace twords Dr. James Naismith

I agree with all the players. This was a really bad decision to change it. Why would they change the NBA from an awesome, leather, nice ball to a weird, crappy, indoor-outdoor ball that all of us kids use on the outside court?

I dont understand why they would use new balls anyways. there was nothing wrong with the ones they were using before.
Ya I also agree with BCB and ballerman, there is no point in changing the ball. They should've worked on fixing the officiating before they changed the ball.
The people who feel there should be no change to the ball, how come your not commenting on uniform changes? I mean like you said, why change something not broken? If changes didn't happen, this would a be a boring planet.
because jerseys dont affect the way the game is played. That was the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. The balls are going to bring down scoring, which will bring down excitement to the fans, which will lose the NBA money.
