It's looking like Adams, and I'm okay with that

So it's looking just about a lock that Sacramento takes McCollum and Minnesota takes KCP. A lot of people have settled on Adams for us, and I'm actually okay with that. The downside: we took Leonard last year and this is a bit of an indictment of that pick. But so what? I've been indicting that pick all year. Besides which, Leonard grew up playing guard so he has guard skills (at least shooting-wise) but plays small. Meanwhile, Adams grew up playing rugby, so he's used to bouncing people around, and he plays D. Scalabrine, who worked out with Adams (see video), compared him with his ex teammate Omer Asik (who we drafted, of course), and that would be awesome. Plus: he's only 19, supposedly (according to Chad Ford) he got exponentially better as the year went on, and he's an awesome bloke, according to everyone who's spoken to him - Flight of the Conchords humor.

So. If Leonard is our Will Perdue (also in the video below) and Adams is our Luc Longley, we just need a Canadian to be our Bill Wennington.

I wonder if we drafted Adams if Leonard could play PF? Just role with it and use his strengths

Nothing is for certain. The last mock draft I saw had McCollum going at #10.

I'm good with it as well, one of these guys will work, and if they both work out okay then we've developed a nice asset to trade in a few years

BTW this kid has a great attitude and personality. If that were a bigger factor I would love to come away from this draft with him and CJ. At least the interviews would be fun.

I like Adams. If we had to keep our pick and drafted him, I would be delighted.

Anyone who answers a question about his gold tooth by saying "it makes me look cool" is a Portland type player

Offensively Leonard has skills better utilized at PF. Defensively Hunter seems to have the quickness to stay with most PF's. It could work but would take quite awhile to develop.

So you're saying you want us to get another first round pick and draft Olynyk?

But does Portland have a big enough young rich, Kiwi population to keep him here, or will we have another Greg Oden on our hands?

Agreed. I think the Blazers are making a mistake trying to turn him into something he is not instead of using the skills he has.

I too am good with Adams. But I don't see it as an indictment of Meyers. ML is raw, and a couple years from making an impact. Adams would also be a year or two, so it's a way to have two good options for a hard to fill position. Likely, one will flame out, so two shats at C are important.

I prefer not to have any shats at C. I'd rather have good players.

It's not turning him into something he can't excel at, it's just that he has not been big as long as most bigs so he doesn't have the experience. He has never had to body up inside, and now trying to do that in the NBA is swimming in the deep end. Time and experience will show if he is capable, more than he has had so far. Time, bigs take time. Inexperienced bigs take more time.

They ripped Adams on NBAtv....stating he would be ok for a pick in the 20's but taken in the lottery would be a mistake....oh well...b\c I agree that he certainly seems like he will be the pick....

The problem is that he suffers from the same thing Leonard does, he has the body\looks the part...but has little feel for the game....

I think that if POR takes him then they just drafted thier 2nd consecutive back-up center....

I am not big on Zeller necessarily either, but I would rather see POR draft him than Adams...

I'm OK with Adams with the 10th pick. I like his attitude. He seems to be a banger. He should fit in just fine in Portland. And it's not like Oladipo/Len/McCollum/McClemore is going to be sitting there waiting for us at No. 10. Picking Adams has zero to do with Leonard. We need bigs, period.
