In a sign-and-trade deal that involves seven players and a pair of draft picks, the Mavericks have agreed to ship forward Eduardo Najera, forward Christian Laettner, rookie guard Luis Flores, forward Mladen Sekularac and two first-round picks to the Golden State Warriors for Dampier, center Evan Eschmeyer and guard Dan Dickau. Donnie Nelson, Mavericks president of basketball operations, said the deal will be finalized today. The trade was momentarily postponed because of the 60 day wait required when trading a player recently traded for, in this scenario Christian Laettner. This trade marks the second consecutive summer when the Mavericks and Warriors complete a multi-player deal. Last year Antawan Jamison, Danny Fortson and others were exchanged for Nick Van Exel and others. The Mavericks have undergone significant change this offseason, as they have traded away Jamison, Antoine Walker, Najera and loss Steve Nash to free agency and they have acquired Jerry Stackhouse, Jason Terry and Dampier. The Nelson's expect this to be a more balanced team than the run and gun teams they have fielded in past years, centered around the Big 3 of Nash, Finley and Nowitzki. your thotz?
Dallas will probably be a much Faster Running team.if the Mavericks can gel things together,than it's possible this upcoming team will definetly make waves. Wait until Mid-Season,than we can probably get a better idea on how things will pan out??

Damp will greatly help the Mavs no doubt about it. He gives them an inside presence they have needed for what seems like forever. I feel now the Mavs have the players it takes to win a championship. I don't think they will, but they have as good a chance as anybody. The thing I don't understand is 78 million. I realize Damp plays the 5 and the NBA is Center-less but 78 million is alot of dough for a guy that in his best season averaged 12 and 12 and averages less then 10 in both categories throughout his career. Why not spend the money and bring Nasty beck? I can't justify the money, maybe somebody can help me out. Dampier to me is unproven and Nash is a player that makes everyone around him better. What do you guys think about this?

I'm not sure but if it was, I don't get why Cuban didn't match it....I guess he wanted Dampier really bad. Mavs have a legitimate center now, but no way they're getting past Spurs or T-Wolves. I also think they improved thier defence but it still won't be enough. They are now as good as they were when they had Nash. I think it will be a decrease in scoring but atleast their defense won't be as bad. As for Billa_Bong, i dont get why you brought up the King's franchise in this? This has nothing to do with them nor the Lakers (except maybe that thier gonna be competing for spots. Just wait till the season I guess, cause right now in the millenium, the Lakers have 3 titles and Kings have 0. I think its safe to say Lakers fans have more pride in thier team .
