I can't believe we've finally arrived at kickoff week. What a long and dry spell! It's always fun to read about how other fans spend their gameday and what their calendar looks like for the season. Please share: 1. How do you plan to spend this Saturday? 2. What games, if any, are you able to attend this year? 3. When you go to games, what is your gameday routine? Go Ducks!!
1. This Saturday, I'll be spending the majority of the day with my normal Saturday crew. Some of you know, that a year and a half ago I left Homeland Security and now work for an Australian company and relocated from the East Coast to Phoenix. Several friends that I grew up with in Oregon live in the area and also connected with some great folks who have become (one family already was) Duck fans. This Saturday, like most, there are about seven of us (not counting kids) who get together at my place, have a few drinks and BBQ. The ladies and kids usually swim and lay out in the sun during Gameday or before the game while the guys BS, watch other games and mentally prepare. Then, it's game on! 2. This year we will make the Tucson game, one game at Autzen. We'll road-trip up and it might just be the guys. Also, have reserved both NC and Rosebowl tickets via the BCS bid website. Haven't missed an Oregon bowl game in close to a decade and don't plan to. 3. Depends if it is a home game or away. For home games I usually connect with lifelong friends/donors and Educkers who I don't get to see enough. My brother, who is an NCAA basketball ref comes down and if the weather is good we tailgate. If rain is in the forecast, we get to the MO early, eat, drink, mingle and greet the team. For away games, we usually connect with some other Duck fans who are attending and setup a Ducks tailgate area. We try to get a big group together.
