Allen deserves to be MVP of the league after all he has been to. The record does not speak for it but if he get's the sixers in then he deserves it.
definetly, i mean, how many players do you know that's only 6 foot yet he takes it into the paint every game. he shows the heart and the desire to win every game, even if he's playing with an injury, he gives it his all and refuses to give up. i think if the sixers record was 6 or 7 games above .500, then he would be a major canadate. unfortunately, it isn't.
Despite the fact that Iverson is making NBA history with the season he is having, at the end of the day it's all about wins. To me, an MVP player must have a minimum of 50 wins, and that's obviously not the case for Iverson and the 76ers. However, his team well finish just under 45 wins, so I think he must get some consideration. All NBA First Team is nice but an MVP would be better. Maybe if things go his way, he'll get something that's by far more valuable than an MVP award, an NBA Championship.
No, as sad as it is with the stats he's putting up, he's only an MVP contender. First off, Philadelphia isn't exactly lighting up the league with its record and secondly, Philadelphia barely made it into the playoffs. We only clinched the spot in the second last game of the season while many others in the East such as Miami, Detroit, Washington, Boston, and Indiana clinched it way before us. MVP award is partly based on team success and Philadelphia definitely hasn't done as well as Phoenix or Miami so no Iverson shouldn't get the MVP.
Like everyone else said, to win the NBA MVP your team has to be one of the best. If are team was having the same success as the 00-01 Philly squad, then AI would probably have a good chance at winning the award. But then again, you can always look at the MVP award from a different point of view. Out of all the MVP candidates now, AI probably does the most for his team because he hasn't really had anyone beside him that can dominate. Although the 76ers made a very strong move and got Chris Webber, he isn't really dominant. Look at MVP candidate Steve Nash; he has Amare Stoudemire one of the premier big men in the league that can dominate at any time. Shaq has Wade who is a top guard in the east and can also dominate a game whenever he wants. AI on the other hand doesn't have a player of that stature, that?s why you can say Allen Iverson is the most valuable player.
